Emma and Eli: April 2018

Happy Spring Break! One of our favorite traditions here in Georgia happens the first week of April…Spring Break. This year’s Spring Break was extra nice because it coincided with Easter. What a blessing to just be able to enjoy the day and spend time together serving at Cedarcrest Church. Emma, Eli, Clint, and I all had the opportunity to serve in different areas of ministry at multiple services…and we can’t wait to do it again next year! What a treat to be a part of a church that allows kids to serve!
Monday evening we got to hang out with our dear friends the Bitners. We went down to The Battery at SunTrust Park. We had dinner at Antico and then enjoyed the Braves game. It was a beautiful evening for a game and part of Major League Baseball’s Opening Week. We are really enjoying having the Braves much closer to Acworth!
On Wednesday, we headed out early to drive to Memphis for a few days. We always look forward to spending time with my sister and her family. Her kids and my kids have a great time together! An added bonus is that my brother and his wife and new baby daughter were coming in town from Germany. We had the best time together! Katie planned for us to visit some new places: breakfast at Rise, playing most of the day at Jumping Jellybeans, and then heading home to play some more. While we were in Memphis, we visited the Tiger Bookstore, the University of Memphis, Memphis Pizza Cafe, One and Only BBQ, and many more of our favorite places! Even as much as we love those places…the most fun is always centered around just spending time together as a family. Life is busy, but when we are all together at my sister’s house with my mom…it just all slows down as we remember what’s most important. It was really a blessing to all be together. We even threw my brother a surprise birthday party since it’s been so long since we were all together to celebrate a birthday and his was the closest on the calendar. Clint, Kevin, and JD even bonded over building a fence together…in the freezing cold. The rest of us stayed inside and snuggled Baby Amelia!
We returned from Memphis in time for the busy season at school. Eli had a baseball game that Monday evening and Clint was being honored at a mentoring dinner for Georgia Tech. I had the privilege of cheering on our Eli, and Emma dressed up and went with Clint as his date for the dinner at GT. I love that Clint always goes out of his way to make all of us feel so special. It’s just like him to take a special occasion honoring him and turn it into something that is a huge blessing for one of us!
Most of our April evenings and weekends have been spent at the ballfields cheering on Emma for softball and Eli for baseball. NCCS had a Preschool Bike Rodeo for Eli and his buddies. We had lots of fun! We also continued our tradition of going to the Georgia Tech Spring Football game. We had a great time together and sat with some friends at the game. The Varsity for dinner capped off a fun evening! Eli’s class had their spring program with lots of fun music and dancing. Emma had two field trips this past week…to a painting party with her RISE class and to Vulcan to close out the unit on rocks with the rest of the 3rd grade.
Life moves fast around here…but this is a sweet season as Emma and Eli are both growing and learning so much. It is a blessing to be their parents and Clint and I know that this time is only moving faster. Our hope and prayer is that the Lord will remind us to be intentional in making investments that really matter. We are looking forward to a great last month of school and then a fun summer!
