Book Review: The Christian Atheist

Do you believe in God, but live as if He doesn’t exist?  That is the question that Craig Groeschel asks in his newest book, The Christian Atheist.  I am a huge fan of Groeschel and have read two of his previous books, Chazown and It.  The Christian Atheist really challenged me.  I had the privilege of reading this book in one sitting and would recommend that for anyone that has a few hours to really dig in.

I usually highlight a lot and have a lot of phrases to post in my reviews.  This time I read without my highlighter instead trying to really open my heart and mind to what the Lord was wanting to show me in these pages.  The Table of Contents was enough to let me know that this book was going to give me a lot to munch on.

Table of Contents:

Chapter 1: When You Believe in God but Don’t Really Know Him
Chapter 2: When You Believe in God but Are Ashamed of Your Past
Chapter 3: When You Believe in God but Aren’t Sure He Loves You
Chapter 4: When You Believe in God but Not in Prayer
Chapter 5: When You Believe in God but Don’t Think He’s Fair

The heart of this book really focuses on living as if we believe in Jesus Christ.  It’s realizing that being a Christian isn’t a feeling and it isn’t about your circumstances or your situation.  Following Christ is an all-out full-speed ahead adventure that lasts for all of eternity.  Definitely not a step to be taken lightly!

If you are looking for a book to give to someone that is wanting their walk to match their talk, this is it.  If you are ready to start living in such a way that will draw others to Christ by the lifestyle you are living, check out this book.  I believe in Jesus Christ and I want to prove it!
