Emma 20 months

Summer has been such a blast with Emma!  This past month she has really started talking and getting adventurous.  We were suspicious that she could open doorknobs, but I finally caught her in the act!  One morning, I was up early and Clint was downstairs in the office working.  I heard the TV on upstairs and thought that was odd since we rarely have the TV on..especially in the morning.  I went upstairs and found Emma sitting on the futon in the bonus room.  She had opened her door and turned on the TV and sat down to watch.  It was too funny…she was so proud of herself!

In last month’s post, I mentioned that we had just returned from Disneyworld and Emma had also just completed her first roundtrip on a plane.  We returned from Disney on a Wednesday night and early that Friday morning, Emma and I flew to Memphis to spend a few days with Mom and Uncle Kevin.  He was on leave from the Army so we were excited to hang out.  We missed Aunt Katie and Uncle JD on this visit because they were on their European Vacation.

While we were in Memphis, we visited the Memphis Zoo, hung out with my grandmother, and swam and Katie and JD’s…I mean…made sure their pool was OK.  Emma did great on both plane rides and Uncle Kevin was an awesome chauffeur for the week!

We headed back up to Memphis on July 2 for the weekend of the Fourth to hang out with Mom, Katie, and JD.  We had a great time hanging out with everyone.  We even got to see my aunt, uncle, cousins, and my cousin’s little boy.  He was so sweet to Emma.  He is four and he treated Emma like a little princess.  It will be fun watching them play together as they grow up.  Mom, Clint, Emma, and I ran in the St. Jude Firecracker 5K on the night of the 3rd.  It was fun until Emma couldn’t stand being in the jogging stroller.  I’m sure it was hot and she wanted out!  Clint was a trooper and carried her on his shoulders the last 2 miles.  They had a great time running through all the sprinklers!

On July 5, we spent all day out at Pickwick Lake in JD and Katie’s boat.  Emma loves the water!  We rented a boat last summer and spent the day on the lake and she seemed to like it.  This time she was ready to hang out for the day.  We are so glad to know that we have a little girl that loves the water as much as we do.  It obviously made an impression on Clint, we are now boat shopping!

I had to go away for a conference for a few days this week.  Clint and Emma headed up to Summerville for a couple days and had a great time with Clint’s Mom.  When I got back in town this afternoon, I picked Emma up from her school.  When I walked into her class, she yelled out “Mommy” and ran across the room and gave me a huge hug.  It was so awesome, I think I will go out of town again just to have that experience of returning!

We have a few weeks of summer left.  I know we will spend the time playing outside, swimming, going down the slide, and enjoying this sweet time with Emma.  I have pasted some pictures below from the past month.
