hey everyone…sorry for the delay in posting. now that i´m on…it´s dialup, so this might be a little briefer than the others. thanks for all your emails and prayers. we really appreciate them!

yesterday (wednesday) was a wonderful day! we started out the morning moving our stuff from the score villa to the nazarene seminary. we stayed there last night and will be there again tonight. once we unloaded our bags, we headed out to the american school here. it is a bilingual school that has a wonderful ministry in this community. they have preschool all the way up through adult language school. nccs will need more space in order to match this endeavor! many of the students were children of missionaries. that was the original purpose of the school…to educate missionary kids. after a while, the leaders of the school, an acsi school like nccs, decided it would be great to open it up to costa rican children so that the groups could learn from each other.

when we got there, we helped clean up their gym and organize some storage areas. several of our girls cleaned the playground equipment and played with the children. some of the guys and girls hauled rocks from a pile to fill in a trench. the guys were great of course…but you should see meg eskew push a wheelbarrow! she was great.

several girls went with mrs. pater to help straighten up the library. some girls helped teachers with reading in their classrooms and getting supplies together. several of the boys helped with the scaffolding the in the gym as their maintenance man changed all the lights. he said it would have taken him a couple of days to do it all by himself, but with their help, he was able to get it all done in 1 day!

during lunchtime, we got to talk to a lot of the kids. they have cool stories about how they ended up here. we finished our time at the school by playing a huge soccer game with all the kids. then, we walked over to the pizza place and had a late lunch together.

we rode back to the seminary and spent a couple of hours resting, playing soccer, tanning, and just otherwise hanging out. some of us walked to the super mercados to pick up some snacks. it was a great afternoon for everyone to have some fun.

at 545 we had dinner…costa rican lasagna! it was great and everyone loved it. then we loaded the bus and headed over to a costa rican church to join them for wednesday night bible study. once again, our praise team folks did a wonderful job leading worship and hunter palmer and sydney clifton shared testimonies. the pastor gave a great message using the story of joshua to challenge us to run hard after the things that christ has called us to do with our lives.

we got in and had devotions when we arrived at the seminary. mr. campbell led devotions and we closed by having everyone share something encouraging about something else. it is really great to see how all of the students have stepped up. everyone is contributing in some way! zack griffith closed out our time by sharing a passage he had read earlier in the day in his bible.

this morning we got up early and had a breakfast of cereal, fruit, and bread. it was great! we loaded the bus and headed to another school. we spent the morning washing windows, cleaning the gym (apparently we are very good at that), painting, moving stuff outside, and cleaning a huge room full of stuff that hasn´t been touched in years.

after our morning work, we had a chance to play games with the kids in the gym. several of us worked together to make a great lunch of hamburgers and then we had worship with the entire student body. all of our seniors led the music and then kam willman and mallory nall spoke. they did a wonderful job!

right now our boys are taking on their high school boys soccer team. it doesn´t look good for our guys 🙂 later this evening we are going souvenir shopping and then back to the seminary for dinner and devotions.

tomorrow we will rise very early to head out whitewater rafting. we are looking forward to an exciting day! we will head to guacimo to the hotel after rafting and spend the weekend working with aby´s church in guacimo. hopefully we will have internet access there. if not, it may be sunday night before i post again.

we are excited to hear the boys won the basketball game yesterday and are praying they pull out today´s game as well. go eagles!

have a great day and we´ll see you in a few days!
