Book Review: for one more day

I am not much of a fiction reader, but today all I was looking for was something relaxing to read out on the boat.  I picked up for one more day by Mitch Albom.  I think my mom gave this to me for Christmas a few years back and I just had not read it yet.  This turned out to be an interesting book.

I read the entire book in just under two hours as the story is pretty engaging.  The main character, Charley Bennetto, has a chance to “relive” his life through his memories.  It somewhat reminded me of the Ghost of Christmas Past from The Christmas Carol.  Anyone who reads this book will find something in Bennetto’s life to identify with in some way.

for one more day is definitely not a Christian book in any way, but there are some spiritual themes that can be drawn from it…

  • live each day to the fullest for the glory of God
  • God puts people in our path on purpose
  • relationships with others can encourage us to become all that God created us to be
  • realize that every moment of our lives should be lived intentionally and without regret

This was a good book and one that I would recommend.  Be sure to check it out if you are looking for a good story with a good message.
