Chosen: The Road to Adoption update

It is definitely time for an adoption update.  So many of our sweet friends have asked recently where things stand.  We finished up our dossier several weeks ago.  If you are not familiar with a dossier, just picture more documents than you have ever been asked for.  Then…each document needs a specific signature, most have to be notarized, and many have to be embossed with the state seal of the state that it originated from.  Not all of our documents originated here.  Compiling a dossier is much like the most complicated…and rewarding…scavenger hunt you will ever participate in.  The good news is that my sweet husband is the most patient man on the planet.  Other than signing a few papers or requesting a few documents myself, Clint collected everything and visited multiple government buildings to get things taken care of.

Once we took the dossier to our agency, we waited so they could look over it and make sure everything was done perfectly.  If there are any errors later down the line, it can really back up the process.  Thankfully…everything was in great order and it was FedExed to the agency’s corporate office to have a few more documents added.  From there it went to the Ethiopian embassy to be translated.

About a week ago we received word that our dossier was in the hands of the fine folks that work for the Ministry of Women and Children in Ethiopia.  So…we wait.  We have definitely seen God’s hand at work in this entire process, so the waiting has been a blast because of the cool things God has been teaching us.  We did request a baby boy anywhere from newborn up to a year younger than Emma.  Now that Emma is cruising towards three, the reality that we could have two toddlers before long seems like an exciting adventure!

Thank you again for your prayers and for walking this road with us.  As each day passes, we feel more and more confident that God has called us to this endeavor for His glory and the good of our son that we can’t wait to meet!

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come for you.” John 14:18
