24 hours away

A few weeks ago, my awesome husband told me not to make any plans for the weekend after our anniversary.  He said that he had asked his mom to come down and keep Emma and that we would be going away for the weekend.  Just to give you a frame of reference…this is a crazy time of year for a middle school/high school principal.  Especially coming off of our upper school, 6th grade, and 7/8th grade fall retreats that have taken me away from my family the past two weeks.  The main thing I always want to do after those retreats is go home and rest and catch up.  That is probably why we really needed to take some time and go away…even just for 24 hours.  Clint and I celebrated our 8th anniversary on August 23 and it has been an awesome 8 years.  I am so grateful we had an opportunity to get away for a little bit to just be the two of us and remember how fun it can be to eat together just as adults!  We missed our sweet Emma, but knew that she was having a blast with Granna.

We left the house Saturday and started by visiting the Georgia Tech Bookstore (my choice) so that we could pick up some new GT wear for the fall.  Our family loves walking around the bookstore and looking at all the new stuff.

From there, we went to have lunch at No Mas Cantina.  The food was great and the atmosphere was really cool!

After lunch, we headed over to Phipps Plaza to see Crazy, Stupid, Love.  I wouldn’t recommend it to teenagers, but we are big Steve Carrell fans and thought it was pretty funny in parts.

We walked around Phipps for a while and then checked into our hotel, the Westin Peachtree before heading out to dinner at Two Urban Licks.  The hotel was really nice!  The Westin Peachtree is the tallest hotel in the Western Hemisphere and the home of the famous Sun Dial.  Two Urban Licks is a great restaurant with a ton of atmosphere.  It is an old warehouse that has been converted into a really cool space.

After dinner, we decided dessert would be good and the hot sign was on!

We came home Sunday morning around 10:30 after a great breakfast in the hotel restaurant.  Fortunately…Emma was glad to see us!  We had a great weekend away.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to spend some time just with Clint.  I love dating my best friend!
