Emma: September 2011

As always, this past month has gone by way too quickly!  Fortunately, we did get to have some days off thanks to Labor Day and Fall Break at my school.  We tried to make the most of every minute that we had together.  Since this is the fall, we spent the first part of the month enjoying the last few days out on the lake as we settle into Friday night football games, Saturday races and other adventures, and our new Sunday School class at Cedarcrest Church.  We enjoyed a lot of time with friends this past month and are so grateful for their influence in the life of our family.

We want Emma to grow up with a desire to serve others and we realize that will only happen if we model that and give her opportunities to serve now.  Last weekend, our family participated in Covering the Bases at the Horizon Field in Acworth.  The Horizon Field is a place dedicated to athletics for kids with special needs.  Each year they do Covering the Bases to raise money for the field and different programs that take place there over the course of the year.  For the past few years, we have really enjoyed taking Emma to baseball and kickball games and were so glad to take her to Covering the Bases.  She joined Clint and me as we walked around the bases to raise money for this special place.

One of the biggest blessings about the school that I work at is the opportunity for Emma to hang out with kids who have awesome families.  She hangs out with little kids her own age as well as middle and upper school kids that she thinks are her same age.  There are so many great kids at NCCS and I am grateful that Emma is learning what it means to be a godly young person by watching their lives.

Emma is becoming more and more independent as each day goes along.  She is in a stage of loving to repeat things and try to figure things out in conversation.  She has learned several new songs and loves trying to imitate the NCCS cheerleaders that she adores.  She has also developed this cute little head nodding thing when she wants to try and be cute rather than talking…it’s pretty cute!

The weather has started to turn cooler in the evenings and we are so excited about jumping into fall with our sweet Emma.  She is so excited about turning 3 in November.  About a week ago, they asked us if they could go ahead and move her into the 3 year old class at school since she seems so eager to move up.  We agreed and she loves it!  She had school picture day last week and I can’t wait to see how her little pictures turned out.  We are looking forward to a great October and having many more fun pictures to post!  Here are some pics from September 2011:
