Emma: November 2011

November has come and gone and left behind a ton of great adventures for our family.  We celebrated Emma’s 3rd birthday, enjoyed a great Thanksgiving, ran two races, took a family staycation in Atlanta, enjoyed the fall festival at North Cobb Christian, and had a lot of visits with family and friends.  Emma is continuing to get smarter, funnier, and taller every day.  We took her for her three year old checkup and she weights 37 pounds and is 40 inches tall.  Emma loves to jump every chance she gets.  Our home staircase has three steps and then a landing before several more steps.  Emma loves to walk down the steps to the landing and then jump to the floor.  It is a bit startling if you are not expecting it…but she loves it.  She always proudly announces “I JUMPED!”

Uncle Kevin got Emma a playdoh pizza parlor for her birthday.  She has been having a blast with that and enjoyed having him down for Thanksgiving week to play with her.  She also got a lot of cute clothes and fun toys for her birthday including a precious owl hat from Aunt Katie.  We are glad that Emma still seems to be satisfied with what she has and doesn’t always ask for other things.  When we see toys in the stores, she likes to look at them, but never really asks for much.

When my grandmother was moving last year, she gave Emma an antique desk that she had for a long time.  We put it in Emma’s room to use as a small table for a while.  Now that Emma is so much into drawing and writing, we moved her desk to the kitchen and that has become her “office” for all of her crafts.  Emma loves “working” there while we are doing other things in the kitchen and living room.  She has more notepads, markers, pens, and things than you could imagine.  She also talks a lot about being a teacher and helping the other kids.  We’ll see how that pans out.  I am so glad that she already has great respect for her own teachers and loves helping.

Emma still prays everyday for her brother Eli that we hope to adopt soon.  Clint and I love to put Emma to bed each evening.  That is some of our most precious family time as we reflect over the day, read stories, giggle, do night night kisses and hugs, and pray together.  Emma loves to laugh and her laugh is contagious.

As we head into December and all the excitement of Christmas, we look forward to spending this time with Emma.  We are grateful for a break from the normal schedule for a couple of weeks just to enjoy each others company.  Emma is a treasure and we are so grateful that God chose us to be her parents!

Here are some pictures from this past month with our sweet girl.
