25 random things

I was tagged by my good buddy Denise to write a list of 25 random things about myself.  I’m going to give it a go and see what we come up with.

1.  I was born in Memphis, Tennesee and lived there for the first 22 years of my life.

2.  I moved to Acworth, Georgia on December 28, 2000 and have lived here ever since.  In fact, I am pretty certain that we’ll stay here forever.  I love this city!

3.  The hospital I was born in no longer exists.  Oddly enough, I was born in the same hospital that Elvis died in..just about a year apart.  Here is the video of the implosion of the hospital.

4.  My high school Latin teacher was the first cousin of Al Gore.  She seemed mighty proud of that fact????

5.  I am an administrator at a Christian school because I was heavily influenced by the Christian walk of my high school principal.  By the way, I went to a public high school!  Over 2,000 students and he took the time to invest in me!  I pray that my students can say the same of me one day.

6.  A few weeks ago my husband and I were shopping in a Wal-Mart in Summerville, Georgia and we saw Todd Bridges who played on the old show Different Strokes…”whatchu talkin bout Willis?”

7.  My brother is in the ARMY, but he is also a pilot.  Once when he was doing some flight training, he opened up his window and threw out a McDonald’s bag.  Don’t email me about pollution…it’s just a random fact.

8.  My favorite ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip.

9.  My favorite color is green…that might have something to do with number 8.

10.  My favorite drink is Diet Mountain Dew…that might have something to do with number 9.

11.  Come to think of it…my car is green…that might also have something to do with number 9.  I really need to branch out a little!

12.  I am a total Mac addict…I have a MacBook Pro, my husband has a MacBook, I have 3 iPods, he has 2 iPods, and we both have iPhones.  We love it…Mac Attack!

13.  I love speaking in front of large groups.  I don’t know why…but it really revs me up to have an opportunity to share something that I am really passionate about.

14.  My mom is pretty much the coolest lady ever.  She raised three kids by herself and we all still get along!  I’m not really sure why she didn’t kick us out…we deserved it!  I am so pumped to be so close to my mom, my brother, and my sister.

15.  My sister is the Economic Development Coordinator for the town she lives in.  Her favorite store is Ann Taylor Loft.  Just recently, her town got an Ann Taylor Loft.  Coincidence?  I think not.

16.  I prayed to receive Christ on Thursday, June 23, 1994 at 11:15pm.  I know that it is not about the time or the date, but my life has never been the same and I wouldn’t ever want to go back.  That is the beginning of the best years of my life!

17.  My husband and I both love to play the guitar.  He is a much better musician than I am because he can play anything on any instrument…but he is sweet enough to let me try and tag along!

18.  I am finishing up seminary at Liberty University.  I have really enjoyed my seminary coursework and think that I would like to go on and get a doctorate.  Why?  Not really sure…Dr. Strange would sound cool though!

19.  When I was little, my favorite song was “Sloop John B” by the Beach Boys.  I don’t really know why.  As an adult, I now understand the lyrics and realize how hilarious it must have been to hear a small child singing that song.

20.  My first car was a 1988 Dodge Omni.  It was a really awesome car.  One of my friends plays in the WNBA.  She used to always ask me to take her places when we were in college.  She had to sit sideways in my backseat with her legs across the backseat because there wasn’t enough room for them in front of her.

21.  My daughter Emma is the coolest kid to ever inhabit this earth.  Seriously…she is laying next to me wearing a sleeper that says “Z is for Zebra”.  She is the jam!

22.  I have a strict rule about Facebook friends.  I will only be your friend if I would be willing to come and say hey to you at the grocery store.  I currently have 791 facebook friends…I hope they are not all at Kroger at the same time!

23.  I started this blog a year ago because I wanted to become a better writer.  I will never be perfect with grammar and sentence structure and all that jazz…I just want to write things that people will be interested in reading and that will challenge me to grow in my faith.

24.  I was voted onto the All-Star basketball team my freshman year in college….the church league all-star game.  Yeah…you should have seen my cool red basketball shoes.

25.  When I die, I want to have my funeral in the gym at North Cobb Christian School.  We have chapel in there every Wednesday and those have been some of the coolest worship experiences I’ve had in the past 4 years.

Kind of a somber way to end…so let’s do one more just for kicks…

26.  I love my life…I love God.  I love my husband.  I love our daughter.  I love my mom, brother, sister, grandma, aunt, uncle, and cousins.  I love my friends.  I love all the adults that have invested in my life.  I love my job.  I love the students I get to work with every day.  I love the staff team that I am a part of.  I love the church that we go to.  I love waking up in the morning and I love laying my head down at night knowing that after just a few hours of sweet sleep..I’ll get to do it all over again tomorrow.  And now…that is where I shall go!
