I love to read.\u00a0 I love to read more than I like to sleep.\u00a0 I love to read more than I like to eat.\u00a0 In 2017, I had the privilege of reading 40 books and writing a review for each of them that I’ve posted at the end of this blog.\u00a0 I realize that reading is a HUGE privilege and it’s not anything that I take for granted.\u00a0 \u00a0My mom is to thank for instilling a love of reading in all three of her kids from a very early age.\u00a0 I’ve written on this blog a number of times how I feel about reading and the way that reading shapes the influence that you have.\u00a0 I’ve heard it said that you can tell a lot about a person by the people that they hang out with and the books that they read.\u00a0 Words matter.<\/p>\n

I read 40 books in 2017.\u00a0 That’s a lot of books!\u00a0 It’s not quite as many books as I’ve read in recent years…but for good reason.\u00a0 The main reason being that my kids are now 9 and 5 and I am privileged to give them much of my attention that used to be reserved for reading.\u00a0 I also returned to seminary which leads to it’s own reading and writing covering much of my spare time.\u00a0 I still found myself reading more magazines and blogs than I have in the past…and frittered away much more time that I’d ever like to admit information surfing on my phone.\u00a0 I chose to take the month of December off of social media and I have enjoyed the space immensely!\u00a0 If I go back, I’ll go back differently.\u00a0 Thank you…\u00a0 12 Ways Your Phone is Changing You<\/a> by Tony Reinke and\u00a0 The Tech-Wise Family<\/a> by Andy Crouch.<\/p>\n
