{"id":1466,"date":"2010-01-18T20:45:06","date_gmt":"2010-01-19T00:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/?p=1466"},"modified":"2010-01-18T20:45:06","modified_gmt":"2010-01-19T00:45:06","slug":"book-review-making-vision-stick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/?p=1466","title":{"rendered":"Book Review: Making Vision Stick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Making-Vision-Stick-Leadership-Library\/dp\/0310283051\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1263861614&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1467\" title=\"pr30335\" src=\"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/pr30335.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"136\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I just finished reading <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Making-Vision-Stick-Leadership-Library\/dp\/0310283051\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1263861614&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">Making Vision Stick<\/a> by Andy Stanley. \u00a0This book is a part of the &#8220;Leadership Library&#8221; according to Amazon. \u00a0I would agree that this book is a great addition to the library of any leader. \u00a0The book is a quick read&#8230;an hour at the most.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of my takeaways that I highlighted in the book:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIt is the leader\u2019s responsibility to ensure that people understand and embrace the vision of the organization.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cOnce you have settled the issue of responsibility, here are five things you can do to significantly increase the adhesiveness of your vision. 1. State the vision simply. 2. Cast the vision convincingly. 3. Repeat the vision regularly. 4. Celebrate the vision systematically. 5. Embrace the vision personally.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cOne of the powerful things about a clearly articulated vision is that it has a way of redirecting the focus and resources within an organization. If the vision is too complicated for people to embrace, nothing changes.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe behaviors that are celebrated are repeated. The decisions that are celebrated are repeated. The values that are celebrated are repeated.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLeaders must keep their antennae up for new things that have the potential to distract from the main thing.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cVision, not people\u2019s random ideas, should determine programming.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe questions people ask, the stories they tell or don\u2019t tell, and the things they complain about communicate a great deal about the stickiness of your vision.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cEvery leader should identify gauges that measure the alignment between the organization\u2019s activity and its vision.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cMaking your vision stick requires bold leadership.<span> <\/span>It will require you to develop a healthy intolerance for those things that have the potential to impede your progress.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>What are you doing as a leader to make vision stick in your organization?<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just finished reading Making Vision Stick by Andy Stanley. \u00a0This book is a part of the &#8220;Leadership Library&#8221; according to Amazon. \u00a0I would agree that this book is a great addition to the library of any leader. \u00a0The book is a quick read&#8230;an hour at the most.
