Text: Hebrews 3\u00a0(English Standard Version)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

1<\/strong> Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.<\/span>2<\/strong> He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.<\/span>3<\/strong> Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.<\/span>4<\/strong> For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.<\/span>5<\/strong> Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house, testifying to what would be said in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

6<\/strong> But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

7<\/strong> So, as the Holy Spirit says:\u00a0\u201cToday, if you hear his voice,\u00a08<\/strong> do not harden your hearts\u00a0as you did in the rebellion,\u00a0during the time of testing in the desert,\u00a09<\/strong> where your fathers tested and tried me\u00a0and for forty years saw what I did. <\/span><\/h2>\n

10<\/strong> That is why I was angry with that generation,\u00a0and I said, \u2018Their hearts are always going astray,\u00a0and they have not known my ways.\u2019
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

11<\/strong> So I declared on oath in my anger,\u00a0\u2018They shall never enter my rest.\u2019 \u201d <\/span>12<\/strong> See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.<\/span>13<\/strong> But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.<\/span>14<\/strong> We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.<\/span><\/p>\n

15<\/strong> As has just been said:\u00a0\u201cToday, if you hear his voice,\u00a0do not harden your hearts\u00a0as you did in the rebellion.\u201d <\/span>16<\/strong> Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?<\/span>17<\/strong> And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert?<\/span>18<\/strong> And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?<\/span><\/p>\n

19<\/strong> So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief. <\/span><\/p>\n
