A few weeks ago, I was reading Michael Hyatt’s blog<\/a> about Andy Andrews’<\/a> new book, The Heart Mender: A Story of Second Chances<\/em><\/a>. \u00a0At the end of the blog, Mike was giving away autographed copies of the book through a contest that involved commenting on his blog, tweeting about the contest, and filling in a simple form. \u00a0I have been fortunate to be chosen as a winner in several of these book giveaways recently and was particularly excited to read The Heart Mender<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A few months ago, I read another of Andrews’ books,\u00a0The Noticer<\/em><\/a> and blogged about it here<\/a>. \u00a0The Heart Mender <\/em>is a true story about forgiveness and second chances. \u00a0Andrews is an incredible storyteller. \u00a0This book focuses on a German U-boat officer that is found on the beach in Orange Beach, Alabama after being shot and left for dead in the ocean. \u00a0The woman that found him was a bitter, grieving widow who had recently buried her soldier husband that had been killed. \u00a0This was on top of an already terrible family situation she had grown up in. \u00a0There are several key players in this story, but the main theme is one of redemption and forgiveness. \u00a0The story is historically accurate and gives the reader a glimpse into some things that took place during World War 2 that they might not be aware of.<\/p>\n

You will want to be sure that you have some time to really sit and soak in this story. \u00a0It is an easy read and hard to put down. \u00a0You will walk away from this book realizing that forgiveness is even more of a gift to the one that forgives than it is to the one that is forgiven.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
