\nMessage:<\/strong> Control (Week 6)<\/p>\n

Matthew 16:24-26
\n24<\/em><\/strong> Then Jesus said to His disciples, <\/em>\u201cIf anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.<\/em><\/span><\/span>25<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>\u201cFor whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.<\/em><\/span><\/span>26<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>\u201cFor what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?<\/em><\/span><\/span> <\/em><\/p>\n

As we grab for control, we are walking away from what God desires for us.<\/p>\n

Control is driven by fear.<\/p>\n

2 Timothy 1:7
\nFor God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. <\/em><\/p>\n

Fear is not a fruit of the Spirit.<\/p>\n

Fear is a lack of faith in God.<\/p>\n

Romans 8:31, 38
\n31<\/em><\/strong> What then shall we say to these things? If God\u00a0is\u00a0for us, who\u00a0is\u00a0against us?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/em>38<\/em><\/strong> For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers<\/em><\/p>\n

Surrender is the antidote for control.<\/p>\n

Letting Go of Control<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. \u00a0Surrender your Fear.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Common Fear
\nFear of rejection
\nFear of failure
\nFear of others behavior (leads to rebellion\/rejection)
\nFear of the unknown<\/p>\n

Isaiah 43:1-3
\n1<\/em><\/strong> But now, thus says the L<\/em>ord <\/em><\/span>, your Creator, O Jacob, <\/em>And He who formed you, O Israel,
\n\u201cDo not fear, for I have redeemed you;
\nI have called you by name; you are Mine!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

2<\/em><\/strong> \u201cWhen you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
\nAnd through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
\nWhen you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
\nNor will the flame burn you.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

3<\/em><\/strong> \u201cFor I am the L<\/em>ord <\/em><\/span>your God,
\nThe Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
\nI have given Egypt as your ransom,
\nCush and Seba in your place.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Do I trust God at His word?<\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Surrender your Sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Control lives like grace is unneccesary.<\/p>\n

When I use sin to try and fight sin; sin wins.<\/p>\n

Control attacks the actions of sin, surrender attacks the root of sin.<\/p>\n

Ezekiel 36:26
\n\u201cMoreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. <\/em><\/p>\n

Question: When I am tired, lonely, frustrated, or angry where do I run?<\/p>\n

3. \u00a0Surrender your life daily.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Luke 9:23
