<\/a>We had a great week in Washington, D.C. with our 8th grade students. I haven’t been to D.C. since I was an 8th grader myself 15 years ago. I really enjoyed getting to see the things I saw 15 years ago from a new perspective. I also saw a lot of new things. I was constantly reminded of the fact that our founding fathers were Christians who wanted to lead their country in a way that would honor Christ.<\/p>\n

Our students and chaperones rode the bus back overnight last night. I had the privilege of flying home yesterday because I had a commitment here last night. After I got off the train at the Atlanta airport, I headed up the escalator towards baggage claim. As I was approaching the top of the escalator, I heard thunderous applause. I wondered who in the world was up there that everyone was so glad to see. I reached the top and saw men, women, and children standing and clapping. Everyone had put their bags down and some were waving. There were a lot of people with tears streaming down their cheeks, me included. Headed towards the gate were about 200 ARMY soldiers in their fatigues heading out. I was so excited to see the love that was being poured out on these young soldiers. I can honestly say that I will never forget the way that I felt and how proud I was to be an American at that very moment. I’m glad that my brother is in the ARMY and I’m glad that God has called our country to make a difference in the world around us.<\/p>\n
