{"id":7590,"date":"2013-10-11T07:01:06","date_gmt":"2013-10-11T12:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/?p=7590"},"modified":"2013-10-11T07:01:08","modified_gmt":"2013-10-11T12:01:08","slug":"product-review-compass-study-bible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/?p=7590","title":{"rendered":"Product Review: Compass Study Bible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/?attachment_id=7591\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7591\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7591\" title=\"9781401679118_p0_v1_s260x420\" src=\"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/9781401679118_p0_v1_s260x420.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"243\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/9781401679118_p0_v1_s260x420.jpg 243w, https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/9781401679118_p0_v1_s260x420-184x300.jpg 184w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A few weeks ago, I got an email from Thomas Nelson publishers asking if I would be willing to take a look at one of their newest products <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Compass-Study-Bible-Navigating-Your\/dp\/1401680305\" target=\"_blank\">Compass: The Study Bible for Navigating Your Life<\/a>. \u00a0I was excited to have a chance to take a look at this resource as it claimed to be a <em>Compass<\/em> to point you in the right direction. \u00a0The back of the Bible says: <em>Compass<\/em> will help you find the answers you&#8217;re looking for in the pages of the Scriptures and reveal the truths for finding your way. \u00a0Packed with tons of Bible-reading helps, explanatory notes, and Bible search tools, <em>Compass<\/em> is a Bible designed with you in mind.<\/p>\n<p>One of the first things I noticed in flipping through the Bible is the way that the biblical text has been organized to read more like a script. \u00a0I think that will be particularly helpful for those that are trying to understand who said what and who they were talking to. \u00a0There are also a lot of explanations throughout that give the reader great perspective on the historical and cultural context for the text they are reading. \u00a0Since I work primarily with high school students, I see this Bible as being a welcome resource for a student that might not have a strong biblical background&#8230;one that would be otherwise overwhelmed by the idea of just picking up a Bible and trying to figure it out. \u00a0This resource is great for someone new in Bible study and also great for someone that is familiar with the Bible, but desires to go deeper in making the connections that can be missed with just a cursory reading of the text.<\/p>\n<p>There are multiple resources in <em>Compass<\/em> that point a person where to go related to certain themes or situations. \u00a0I find that very helpful in trying to counsel someone or offer encouragement during a difficult time. \u00a0What greater gift is there than to point a person to Scripture?! \u00a0There are also multiple Bible reading plans throughout Compass including one that gives the reader a chance to read the entire Bible in a year.<\/p>\n<p>With Christmas coming, <em>Compass<\/em> would be a great gift for anyone in your life that desires to go further in their study of Scripture. \u00a0It would also make a great gift for a new believer. \u00a0I hope you will consider picking up a copy today!<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kGgg9nfHZ-g\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through their book review bloggers program.
