{"id":7971,"date":"2014-02-02T08:09:03","date_gmt":"2014-02-02T13:09:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/?p=7971"},"modified":"2014-02-05T08:29:28","modified_gmt":"2014-02-05T13:29:28","slug":"book-review-an-all-consuming-passion-for-jesus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/?p=7971","title":{"rendered":"Book Review: An All-Consuming Passion for Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desiringgod.org\/blog\/posts\/an-all-consuming-passion-for-jesus-free-ebook\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7972\" alt=\"full_1389628035\" src=\"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/full_1389628035-195x300.jpg\" width=\"195\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/full_1389628035-195x300.jpg 195w, https:\/\/meganstrange.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/full_1389628035.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 195px) 100vw, 195px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.desiringgod.org\/authors\/john-piper\" target=\"_blank\">John Piper<\/a> has been one of the leading voices in the <a href=\"http:\/\/268generation.com\/passion2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">Passion Movement<\/a> the last several years. \u00a0I have had the privilege of sitting under Piper&#8217;s teachings at multiple Passion events and have always been blessed by the way that he consistently reminds us that the point of our life is to bring glory to Jesus. \u00a0Piper&#8217;s latest book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desiringgod.org\/blog\/posts\/an-all-consuming-passion-for-jesus-free-ebook\" target=\"_blank\">An All-Consuming Passion for Jesus<\/a> is a free e-book that outlines his thoughts on the Passion movement and his desire to continue to invest in students and student leaders. \u00a0A lot of the text is made up of edited versions of his sermons that he has delivered at Passion. \u00a0This book is a quick read, but a powerful reminder of the grace of God and the calling on my life to bring glory to Him in all things.<\/p>\n<p>I highlighted several things while reading and posted them below&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThis is what Passion is about,\u201d he said, \u201cthe glorification of the infinite worth of Jesus so that he remains our joy when everything around our soul gives way.\u201d (Hebrews 10:34).<\/li>\n<li>The movement is not about any particular cause, it is about the fame of Jesus.<\/li>\n<li>This is about calling every new student generation to rivet their heart\u2019s affection and their mind\u2019s attention on the glory of Jesus Christ, the greatness and grandeur and wisdom and strength and power and blessing of Jesus Christ.<\/li>\n<li>I just want to encourage leaders of students that it is possible to take this vision of that \u201csorrowful, yet always rejoicing\u201d tone and build it into a student ministry (2 Cor 6:10).<\/li>\n<li>You were created for the glory of God, \u00a0Isaiah 43:6-7 \u201cBring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; everyone whom I created for my glory.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>God is what is best for you. \u00a0\u201cIn your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures evermore\u201d (Psalm 16:11)<\/li>\n<li>The good service is 1 Peter 4:11 \u201cLet him who serves serve in the strength that God supplies, that in everything God may get the glory.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>It is the passion of God for his name and renown, and the passion of my heart to be satisfied in all of my desires.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified\u201d (1 Cor 2:2).<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel\u2019s will save it\u201d (Mark 8:35).<\/li>\n<li>Desire that your life count for something great!
