I had the privilege of going to the movies today with several dear friends from school.  Our movie choice was Hidden Figures about three ladies who purposed in their hearts to make a difference at NASA through their obvious God-given talents and abilities even in the face of much hardship and opposition.  This movie was incredible!  And even more so because it was based on a true story about Katherine G. Johnson, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughan.  These women were trailblazers on a number of different fronts.  Their courage was inspiring!  The theater broke into applause at least 3 or 4 times during the movie.  These ladies worked for NASA during the days of the first space exploration…Katherine G. Johnson in particular is responsible for John Glenn’s safe orbit of the earth.  It was especially powerful to see this moving on the day our country has set aside to honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as the biggest barrier these ladies faced was the sin of racism in our country.  Their courage and humility in the face of very difficult conditions blazed a trail for many who would come behind them…regardless of gender or skin color…these ladies made a difference for all of us!  I sure would love a chance to tell them thank you.  I’m so grateful for a movie that gives us a chance to show our appreciation.  Don’t miss this movie!
