Strange Family Adventures | September 2022

September 6 READING | My rule has always been that you can stay up as late as you want if you are reading. My little guy gets all he can out of that one. I love watching him enjoy a good story! #LeadersAreReaders #7000days

September 10 TRI THE PARKS | We just wrapped up an awesome triathlon season with our @tritheparks family. It has been such a blessing for the Strange crew to invest 5 weekends into cheering people on and watching people accomplish something pretty spectacular.

April 2022 – John Tanner Park #1

June 2022 – Lake Lanier Olympic Park

July 2022 – Richard B. Russell State Park

August 2022 – Don Carter State Park

September 2022 – John Tanner Park #2

Our Tri the Parks volunteer team is made up of an amazing group of friends who truly love spending time together. That translates to a racing community that has a unique bond as well. We are already counting down to April 2023 so we can get this party cranked back up. Congratulations to all of our Tri the Parks athletes and our awesome friends who participated today from @thekylepeasefoundation. #Swim #Bike #Run @classicsubaruatlanta @all3sports @itlcoaching

September 13 HOMECOMING | Our Spirit Day theme @NCCSEagles today is Heroes v. Villains. Our little guy is going as @willreichard16. He was the hero of the Texas game and named SEC Special Teams Player of the week. #RollTide

September 15 CAREER DAY | Today’s spirit day for @NCCSEagles Homecoming is Career day. We have two as Coach Strange and one Dr. Strange. What a blessing to get to go to school everyday with my kids and enjoy special weeks like this. We love being Eagles! #7000days

September 16 HOMECOMING | What a week it’s been! Congratulations to our @NCCSEagles Varsity Football team for a huge win tonight! Coach Jones got us all fired up at the pep rally this afternoon and the cheerleaders, drumline, and student section offered amazing support! Congratulations to Gabe Fortson and Jayci Jeffreys, our 2022 NCCS Homecoming King and Queen! The whole court was such a great representation of our student body. This was a fun week of spirit days, but one of my favorite parts was all the alumni hugs I got this evening. Oh how I love these precious men and women who are growing and becoming all that God created them to be. It’s always a blast to say “Welcome home” to them anytime! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily #Homecoming2022 #CoastalCraze

September 18 HOMECOMING DANCE | Well done @NCCSEagles Upper School Student Government! This year’s Homecoming Dance was a blast! Our week of Coastal Craze has come to an end and what a week it was. We are so grateful for the hard work of our students leaders, faculty, staff, and many awesome parent helpers. Homecoming means something special at a place our families truly call HOME! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily

September 18 GOOD MORNING ACWORTH | Thank you Lord for a beautiful morning! The Strange crew is looking forward to kicking off a new series called Influencers to continue our study in the book of Acts @nsckennesaw this morning. Come join us at 9:30 or 11:00. #Grateful

September 18 PRAYING | Lifting up so many precious friends and ministry partners in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti in the path of Tropical Storm Fiona that is quickly becoming a Hurricane. Grateful for friends with @timemissions @sendpuertorico @mohhaiti who stand ready to help in the name of Christ.

September 18 SABBATH | It’s been a busy week full of lots of fun things. Grateful for time today to invest in the three that matter most to me. Many things are vying for my attention and most of them are good things. These three are the BEST thing. Church @nsckennesaw, lunch together @moessouthwestgrill, the afternoon on the lake, an early evening run to @scoopsacworth, and a golf cart ride to Lake Acworth. Pretty close to a perfect day. #7000days

September 18 MONEY | For several years @clintstrange32 has led our family in a biblical model of financial stewardship. Trust me, we have made just about every mistake in the book along the way! Thanks to God’s word, wise godly counsel from friends and mentors, @daveramsey, @joesangl, @crownministries, and others, we have learned a lot about how we can make good decisions with our finances to free our family up to be more generous. We believe that the Lord has called us to spend ourselves and our resources for the sake of gospel.

Last week, my friend and @NCCSEagles teammate @rmoore1288 had Dale Alexander come and speak to his Personal Finance classes (grad requirement for NCCS students). Dale was recently featured on @foxbusiness and just released his first book “The Talk” (about money).

I really enjoyed the class and had the pleasure of talking with Dale afterwards. He kindly gave me some copies of his book for our kids and I really enjoyed reading it tonight. The school is gifting a book to all of our NCCS seniors as well. Solid principles for making wise choices with your money.

Proverbs 22:7 The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.

Matthew 25:23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

September 19 THE QUEEN | I’ve read this several places over the last few days and found it to be particularly encouraging and perspective shifting about the Royal Family.

One of the chaplains of her late Majesty, Queen Victoria, had been preaching on the Second Coming of the Lord, and afterward, in conversation with the preacher, the Queen exclaimed: ” Oh! how I wish that the Lord would come in my lifetime! “

” Why,” asked the chaplain, ” does your Majesty feel this very earnest desire?

The Queen replied with quivering lips, and her whole countenance lighted up by deep emotion-

” I should so love to lay my crown at His feet.”

Daniel 2:21-22

He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.

September 19 7 YEARS | I’m so proud of my friend John-Michael Ritchey and the legacy of grace and joy that he has left for all of us. 7 years ago today he stepped into the presence of Jesus and many of us have never been the same. Those of us who were privileged to count JM as a friend and colleague experienced Jesus in a way that I’m not sure that I could adequately explain. I met JM when he was in middle school North Cobb Christian School and had the remarkable privilege of being a part of hiring him at NCCS after he graduated from Liberty University. To this day, the sound of his name and the mention of a quality JM prank brings a smile to the face of all who knew him. He pursued people for the sake of Christ in a way that I’ve not seen before. We are all better because of John-Michael. His wake is a big one and every bit of it is about JESUS. #WellDone #JMR

Here are some thoughts I shared the week of his passing: https://meganstrange.com/?p=9452.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- – Ephesians 2:4-5 @ North Cobb Christian School

September 23 HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM/MIMI | Today is my Mom’s birthday! I’m so grateful for her. Raising three kids as a single mom is no easy task…especially when it was the three of us! She sacrificed her time, wants, and dreams for so many years so that we could have all that we needed. Somehow she made it to the ballgames, concerts, programs, and everything else. It’s a blast to watch her doing the same for her grandkids now! I treasure our times together and look forward to many more adventures in the future! Happy Birthday Mom! I love you!

September 26 Ice cream cones can be more challenging than most people realize 😂 No 9 year olds were harmed in the making of this video…but all 4 Stranges think this is the best ice cream stop we’ve ever made. #NapkinsAnyone #7000days https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ci_SmEJJzFx/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

September 28 TWO TREASURES | I don’t know too much about holidays to celebrate sons and daughters…but I do know that @clintstrange32 and I sure are blessed to have these two precious treasures growing up in our home. They fight over some of the silliest things, but when it matters most…they are each other’s fiercest defenders. They delight in the other’s successes (usually not in front of them) and are concerned for the things that concern the other. The main reason we love weeks like this to get away is because they are reminded that the gift of a sibling is that they will always be your built in best friend. Grateful to God for these two and praying that they will always be close!

September 30 FALL BREAK | Our family has been traveling to Destin since I was a kid and it’s been such a blast to see my Strange people love this place as much as I do. 6 days at the beach was such a gift in so many ways. We rested, we swam, we enjoyed having no schedule, we played outside until the sun went down, we read, and we just enjoyed being together.
We ate at all of our favorite Destin places: @deweydestinsbayside, @backporchdestin, Pepitos, @donutholeflorida, @kilwinsdcommons, and@jetspizza. @clintstrange32 took the kids to @funatthetrack one evening, we did some shopping, and we watched a movie. Fall Break is truly a wonderful invention in the school calendar and something our family really looks forward to. So grateful for the time away and such a blast to be back home in Acworth with these three people God has richly blessed me with! #7000days
