May 3 | TEACHER APPRECIATION | Today was Lower School Field Day @NCCSEagles…always a special time! Doing some reminiscing,
K3 in 2013 with Mrs. Pile >
9th grade in 2024 with Mrs. Pile and Mrs. Truesdale
So grateful for all the Teachers and Coaches who have invested so much in our kids over the years. They give them a chance to run and play…and before you know it, they are given the chance to help another generation of kids run and play. Emma loved having Mrs. Pile as her teacher and Emma loved helping Mrs. Pile’s class at field day today.
God is faithful. He is working.

May 3 | SENIOR NIGHT | Congratulations to the @nccseagles Academy Singers and their awesome Director @amykwallace for another outstanding Showcase! I enjoyed the show so much last night that I had to come straight from Eli’s game to see the end again! Tonight’s bonus was the senior night recognition. Academy has 5 incredible seniors this year and Amy honored them so well. She’s taught most of them for several years and recounted God’s faithfulness throughout these years of growth and development. Thank you Lord for your grace and kindness in loaning us these awesome seniors! We know God has HUGE plans for them!

May 4 | BUB’S RUN 2024 | So special to get to help with this event with my favorite little guy. We love the Loveland family and their heart to serve others. It was a blast hanging with friends in the rain to help support @curechildcancer! We can’t wait for next year! #7000days @bubsrun
May 4 | BIG GUYS | In this season of life, I’m so grateful for all the “big guys” that invest in my little guy. Eli looks up to these boys…all high schoolers and most of them are seniors…at @nccseagles. He’s been around many of them his whole life. I love that our kids are growing up with kids from families who share our commitment to Christian values. Eli loves spending time with these guys (and so many others)…and in the blink of an eye, he is becoming a big guy too. God is faithful. He is working!
May 6 | 10 YEARS AGO | We woke up early Tuesday morning and were all super excited about going to pick up Eli. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 was Eli’s official GOTCHA DAY! When we arrived at the Hilawe Children’s home, you could definitely tell that it was a big day. There was a film crew and a photographer taking pictures of us exiting the van and they continued videoing and shooting photos the entire time we were there. The farewell ceremony at the children’s home was truly a treasure. The people at Hilawe were so happy for Eli and they pulled out all the stops for the celebration. One of the social workers was so thoughtful to video the whole thing with our camera so we will be able to show Eli what a special ceremony this was.
They started by having a time of prayer over all of us. The director of the children’s home prayed in Amaric and then Clint prayed in English. They put some fingerpaint on Eli’s right hand to make a handprint so that people at the children’s home could remember him and pray for him. After that, they presented us a huge loaf of bread for us to cut together. It was similar to cutting a wedding cake and everyone was served a piece. The next item was a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony complete with popcorn. They also served us cokes and brought little chocolates…which totally thrilled Emma! Emma was wonderful throughout the ceremony as she realized this was a very special time for her brother. She kept herself busy giving Eli kisses and making sure he was having a good time.
After the Embassy that afternoon we headed back to the hotel and got ready for naps. Emma insisted on climbing in the crib to sleep by Eli so he wouldn’t be scared. We got some precious pictures of the two of them snuggling together. We pray that they will always be very close and that Emma will always look out for her baby brother. Once naps were over, we played on the playground at the hotel and then ate dinner at the gazebo restaurant by the pool. Eli ate a ton of rice and some chicken. He is a great eater and did a great job at dinner! Emma could hardly eat anything she was so excited to finally have her brother!

May 8 | CLASS OF 2024 | I didn’t even get a cool picture of the table of amazing food or the incredible parade they organized to cheer us on after faculty meeting…but this pic actually seems most appropriate. The senior parents provided breakfast for our faculty meeting today. They showed up in the wee hours of the morning, brought an incredible breakfast and lots of fun surprises, threw a parade for us after the meeting, and then cleaned it all up. What a blessing our @NCCSEagles parents are to us in so many ways! Will you join me in praying for our awesome senior parents in these days as their Eagles prepare to take flight? Exciting days…and a new season for all of them. God is faithful! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily #40YearsOfNCCS #40YearsOfFamily
May 9 | CHORUS CONCERT | The Spring Chorus Concert @NCCSEagles is always one of my favorites! This year Emma had the privilege of being in chorus under the direction of the talented @amykwallace and she has really enjoyed it and learned so much! For so many years our Emma and her best friend Ella Wallace were the little girls in the back of the FAB for this concert…looking up to the “big kids”. Tonight, they were on the stage as another generation of “little kids” sang along and enjoyed the show. What a special night! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily #40YearsOfNCCS #40YearsOfFamily #7000days
May 10 | TEA PARTY | We had a blast today with our seniors in Brit Lit! They hosted a Victorian Tea Party and used all the pieces and parts of the elegant party to share with us all that they have been learning in this unit. I’m so proud of the great work Mrs. Evans is doing investing in her students and helping them to apply what they are learning. At @nccseagles we believe learning should be fun! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily #40YearsOfNCCS #40YearsOfFamily #ThinkingAndLearning
May 11 | CAMPOUT24 | What do you do when you hear the senior class is thinking of coming to campout in your yard? You buy pancake mix and a lot of chocolate milk. I’m so grateful for our awesome @nccseagles class of 2024. This class is made up of young men and women created in the image of God who know that He has a purpose and a plan for their life.
Last night we had some seniors who have never camped out before…now they have! We had some seniors who may not normally hang out with each other. Some seniors dropped by and some stayed for the whole night. We played uno, UberEats made a few deliveries, there were guitars and karaoke, some beloved teachers dropped by, several people driving by slowed down to check out the spectacle…and a LOT of stories were shared. Stories of God’s faithfulness. Reminders of His provision. Recalling special teachers who have made a difference. A wistfulness of what is winding down mixed with excitement and nerves about what is to come.
May 12 | THANK YOU | Our precious son brings so much JOY, LAUGHTER, and LOVE to our family. Eli is a gift from the Lord. On this Mother’s Day, I celebrate a young woman in Ethiopia who chose life for her son. She selflessly chose him and we experience the gift of her choice everyday. ADOPTION is a such a beautiful picture of the gospel in so many ways. When God knit our family together, He showed us new and deep places of His heart that we could have never otherwise known.
May 12 | HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY | Single momming is not for the faint of heart…and particularly when you are talking about raising the Abel three! 😂 Let’s just say that we often went out of our way to make things more adventurous than they probably had to be! There was no shortage of laughter and fun…or wooden spoons as appropriately needed. In each season of life, we’ve always been able to count on Mom to be there with encouragement and support. She somehow found a way to be present at everything for all three of us. That’s no easy feat when all three of us played multiple sports at different schools and had a variety of interests and commitments outside of school. She worked hard to make ends meet to ensure we had everything we needed as well as most of what we wanted…at great sacrifice to herself. Mom gave some of the best years of her life to us completely and we are all better for it. Happy Mother’s Day to the best of the best! #Grateful #MomsAreTheBest
MAY 12 | GRATEFUL | So thankful to worship together with my favorite people and our church family at @nsckennesaw this morning! Church, lunch on the patio at Pablano’s, a nap, and reading. The perfect Mother’s Day!
May 13 | POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL | The taunting started early this morning in the Strange family kitchen. My sweet little freshman came ready to play today! As she walked out to the field after school, she said “Mom, we used to be close…but today I play to win.” Yikes 😳
Special thanks to our @NCCSEagles Student Government for planning another fun year of Powder Puff Football. A great time was had by all and no one had to leave in an ambulance. Super proud of all these young ladies and super thankful for our amazing coaches who were our brave referees! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily #40YearsOfNCCS #40YearsOfFamily #7000days
May 18 | GRADUATION 2024 | Glory to God! We’ve launched another crew into His best for their lives. The @nccseagles class of 20224 has been a source of great joy as we’ve walked the mountaintops and valleys together over the years. Through it all, God has been faithful. I can’t wait to see what He has in store for all of these little ducks.
1 Thessalonians 2:19
For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you?

May 21 | BACK TO BACK STATE CHAMPS | I’m so proud of our @NCCSEagles Baseball Team! They ran it back in convincing fashion and had a blast doing it. I’m so impressed by the great work of our coaches and these players to develop their God-given gifts and talents and to be incredible teammates. Let’s Go Eagles!

May 24 | PICKLEBALL | What a super fun way to end the year…the Upper School Pickleball competition! Emma grew in so many ways this year…but let’s be honest, she’s probably most proud of this victory. Well done Emma, Lauren Kate, Adam, and Troy!
May 24 | WHAT A YEAR! | I’m so grateful that Emma, Eli, and I all get to go to school together everyday @NCCSEagles. What a joy and blessing to our family! And…most days @clintstrange32 goes too because there is always something going on that he’s there to help with or cheer on! Emma finished up her first year of Upper School and Eli finished up his first year of Middle School. They have grown so much this year physically…but most important, spiritually. I’m so grateful for the men and women on our faculty and staff that have poured into our kids this year. E&E know that the adults investing in them love Jesus and want what’s best for them. What a gift! Hallelujah…sweet summertime! 😎 #7000days
May 27 | WOODLANDS | Praying for an awesome week @woodlandscamp for our little guy. This is his 5th summer going to Woodlands and the Lord has done some awesome work in his heart during these intentional times away. I will advocate for Christian camps as long as I live because of the work the Lord did in my own heart and life @camppinecrest and @kanakukkamps as a kid and at @woodlandscamp as an adult. We are so thankful for the team at Woodlands and all they do to help kids see that following Jesus is worth every minute. Praying for @bigjonestes @cassbrannan and all the staff this week as they invest in the hearts and minds of boys and girls to prepare them to impact the world for Christ. #Unforgettable
May 28 | SUMMER NIGHTS | It’s amazing what a difference it makes to be out on the water. Summertime is settling in just fine. Grateful for a change of pace, a time to reflect and celebrate, and to recharge for the exciting days ahead. #WeLoveAcworth
May 31 | WHAT A HUNK | I don’t know about you, but sometimes I put the lid on my Stanley on just a little too tight. In fact, the last two days I’ve had to refill the water by just putting it into the spout you are supposed to drink out of…because I couldn’t get the top off. I brought it home from work today and meant to ask Clint’s help….but put the cup on the counter and forgot about it.
I got home a little bit ago and noticed the cup had been opened, washed, and was drying in the rack. This guy…he rescued me YET AGAIN! I’m thankful he’s mine for a million reasons, but today it is for opening my cup that was stuck. 😂😂 #WhatAHunk He should be a model for @crunch.acworth!
