STRANGE FAMILY ADVENTURES | OCTOBER 2024

October 4 | HOMECOMING | Oh what a night! I absolutely LOVE Homecoming @nccseagles. My day was filled with lots of fun and laughter catching up with current students, faculty, and staff and the evening was full of precious alums coming home, little mascots, a ribbon cutting, kings and queens, and the most perfect sunset.

All of this is so awesome, but it’s merely a shadow of the homecoming we will enjoy one day in Christ. And I’m thankful that our NCCS community shares that perspective. Tonight was great practice for what I believe Heaven will be like.

October 5 | HOMECOMING DANCE | I’m so thankful for precious friends and a fun evening of celebration. Emma and Lawson had a great time with friends taking pictures, eating dinner, and dancing the night away at the @NCCSEagles Homecoming Dance. Our girl is growing up fast! These are the days for sure! #7000days #SophomoreYear

October 6 | Eli just got home from the NorthStar Middle School Retreat at Snowbird and he had a BLAST!  I’m so thankful for the men and women who are investing in our little guy to the glory of God!  He had the biggest smile on his face when he got home and then fell asleep quickly!

October 8 | I just got back from spending a few days in Colorado at the CESA Symposium with our NCCS Leadership Team.  We learned a lot and had a blast bumping into people that we only see at these things.  More than anything, it was just great to spend some time with our leadership team.  Even though we all work together…and many of us together for many years…it is always a treat to enjoy a meal together and just hang out!  I’m super blessed by our team at NCCS…encouraging and also holding me accountable to growing as a leader.

October 13 | THE HEART OF GOD | I’ve heard this verse misused many times and it’s so easy to do. This verse doesn’t mean that God will give you whatever you want. Praise the Lord because my “wanter” is all kinds of messed up in most cases. This passage invites me to “delight myself in the Lord”, which means to abide in Him and so align my heart with His that I will find myself wanting the best things that He wants…not the wrong things that my sinful heart can so easily drift towards.

The rest of this chapter goes on to explain how to delight yourself in the Lord…

+ commit your way to the Lord

+ be still before the Lord

+ refrain from anger

+ turn away from evil

+ wait for the Lord and keep His way

+ mark the blameless and behold the upright

God is faithful. He is working.

October 15 | EARLY VOTING | Early voting in the state of Georgia started today. It took me 10 minutes from the time I left my car to vote and get back in the car. I’ll never find a candidate that I completely agree with, but my vote is important for a variety of big issues that are priorities to me…namely, right to life and religious liberties. Voting is a privilege. Don’t miss your chance! Also, it’s very pretty outside today and they are giving out free stickers.

October 16 | My students definitely went out of their way to make my birthday special with lots of sweet surprises today.  They wrote notes on post-its and put them all over my car.  More than anything, I want our students to know that I love and care for them and want them to treasure Jesus above everything else.  What a day!

October 19 | SOPHOMORE SEASON | We had a great time cheering on Emma and her Varsity Volleyball teammates this season @nccseagles. These young ladies and their coaches grew in all kinds of ways individually and collectively. They played a tough non-regional schedule, won the region championship, and finished up by playing in the Sweet Sixteen of the GHSA State Playoffs. More than anything, we love what team sports can do for kids. We love winning, but winning is most fun when our kids are learning what it means to be a great teammate and to sacrifice your own plans for the good of the team. Grateful for these opportunities. Let’s Go Lady Eagles! #7000days

October 21 | CHEF EXTRAORDINAIRE | Today was the first day of this school year that neither Strange child had a sports practice. Don’t worry though…basketball starts tomorrow 😂 Since we were all home…we hung out, went for a walk, played basketball, piddled around, and had this handsome guy cook dinner for us. He prepared a lovely dinner of grilled hot dogs and shells and cheese. He calls it his new specialty. And then…we sat outside around the table for an hour. It was glorious! #7000days

October 23 | Our family enjoyed a spontaneous night out with dinner and the KSU/Liberty football game at KSU. We went to cheer on NCCS Alum Caeden Callahan who plays for Liberty. We got to hang out with some dear NCCS and NorthStar friends and see a great game. Unfortunately KSU upset Liberty…but it was a battle between the alma maters where Clint and I got our advanced degrees, so his Owls took this one!

October 24 | Fascinating opportunity this evening to learn more about 4G3 and the incredible work they are doing to advance the gospel in the Middle East. It was a huge blessing to spend the evening with some of our team from NorthStar cheering on this awesome ministry and enjoying a time of worship and celebration together.

October 28 | PRETTY COOL MONDAY |

Dear friends + @torchystacos + @josiahqueenmusic

Pretty solid start to the week enjoying a super fun girls night out with tons of friends from Acworth, @nsckennesaw, and @nccseagles singing, dancing, and worshipping the Lord together. Grateful for Josiah Queen’s commitment to singing songs that teach Scripture and point to Jesus.

Also, I was out until 10pm on a school night…a Monday. I don’t even know who I am anymore 😂😂
