For the Sake of the Gospel

Tonight Clint and I had the privilege of eating dinner with our good friends Will and Elaine Savell.  Will and Elaine along with their sweet kids Emma (7) and Jack (4) are moving to Costa Rica in a few weeks to begin an incredible adventure for the sake of the gospel.  They have been in the process of getting rid of stuff, selling things, packing things, and figuring out how to pack what they need into two large suitcases per person to run hard after the calling that God has placed on their lives.  They will move to Costa Rica to do a year of language school and then see what God has for them from there.

Will feels particularly called to invest in the indigenous Spanish pastors.  Many of those pastors have no access to education and other formal training.  Will has been blessed to be able to go to seminary and desires to invest in these pastors.

I have known Elaine since I was in the 9th grade Sunday School class at Kirby Woods Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee.  She was at youth camp in the summer of 1994 with me when I prayed to receive Christ.  I have loved staying in touch with her over the years.  Elaine and Will met in college at Mississippi College and got married before they graduated.  It seems that I have always known Will too!  After graduation, they both served in youth ministry for a number of years and we loved the opportunity to collaborate on ideas for ministry and share common situations.

They have been feeling God leading them to follow Him in a new way.  This will be an incredible adventure as they raise their kids in a new culture.  They are going to be awesome missionaries and I can’t wait to hear stories of how God is working in and through their family for His glory and the good of others.

If you believe that God is calling you to support this family as they make these steps in faith, would you consider supporting them by clicking here?  Every penny that is given demonstrates a partnership for the sake of the gospel.

Romans 10:15
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
