Book Review: For Young Men Only

I had an opportunity to read For Young Men Only and do a review on my blog.  At first, I thought this was sort of a strange read for an almost 30 year old married woman, but I thought…who doesn’t love a free book?  So I agreed to do it.

I finished the book last night and will have to say I rather enjoyed it.  I have done a lot with True Love Waits and other dating types of things with both teenage girls and boys over the years and I am always eager to find new resources.  I think FYMO would be a great book for me to share with a man who was interested in leading a guys small group.  There are some very practical tips and insights shared around some hilarious stories told by the authors, Jeff and Eric.

Another nice thing about this book is that I would also encourage girls to read it to get some insight into some of the things that guys are struggling with and how they could be more aware of things in a relationship.

I would highly recommend this book to youth pastors, coaches, teachers, parents, and students who are interested in discovering more about guy and girl relationships.

Here is the summary from the FYMO website:

Why do girls sometimes seem like alien beings? Find out—For Young Men Only reveals the real truth about what teenage girls think, what they want, and how average teen guys can build healthy friendships with high quality girls. Drawing on a fresh national survey of 600 teen girls, as well as hundreds of personal interviews, FYMO delivers help straight from the girls themselves in a fun, easy-to-read, easy-to-talk about format.

Warm, witty, and honest, authors Jeff Feldhahn and Eric Rice tell plenty of personal stories and draw on solid biblical principles to guide young guys through the often daunting world of the opposite sex. Their goal is to help teen guys build self-confidence and understanding, and show them how to pursue a relationship with a girl while giving her the respect and protection she deserves.
