August was an awesome month in the Strange house. Emma finished up a really fun summer of Camp Eagle at North Cobb Christian School. Then, she started K3 at NCCS. She has loved every minute of it and comes home every day full of stories and fun memories from her days at school. Our prayer is that she always loves school and we are so grateful that Emma gets to be at NCCS where everything she learns is based on the truth of God’s Word.
The first weekend of August, we went up to Summerville to visit Clint’s family and celebrate his birthday with him. We had a great time seeing everyone and of course, eating at Armstrong’s. This was a great way to celebrate the last weekend before preplanning and the start of the school year.
The first weekend of school we headed up to Nashville to say goodbye to my brother for a while as he headed to Afghanistan with his ARMY unit. We had a great visit with the whole family and have really enjoyed hearing from Kevin a few times already!
Emma and Daddy had some special time together while I was away for our upper school and middle school retreats at NCCS. They visited Chuck E Cheese, Stevie B’s and some of my other not-so-favorite places to go. I hate being away from them, but am glad that some of my school commitments allow them to eat at the places I don’t particularly enjoy!
We spent a lot of time at the pool and on the lake as the summer came to a close. Clint and I celebrated our 9th anniversary with an overnight getaway the last weekend in August. Clint’s mom was so sweet to come and stay with Emma and they had a great time.
Emma is really getting good at her spelling, coloring, and singing. She loves telling us all the new things that she is learning. She is particularly fond of learning people’s full names and their ages. It doesn’t bother her a bit to walk right up to an adult and ask how old they are…hopefully that will pass before too long! Of course, I know she is hoping the person will ask how old she is, so she can proudly declare that she will be 4 soon!
I have posted several pictures below of our sweet girl this past month. She is growing up fast!
She is growing up fast so beware:
before you know it
she won’t be there.
Be vigilant to be attentive –
don’t get distracted;
a mother cannot be replaced
nor her influence outlasted.
