Emma: October 2012

Our Emma continues to be such a blast!  She is growing so fast and is quick to let everyone know that she will be 4 soon.  Clint and I keep trying to convince her to be 1 or 2 again…but she insists on being 4.  Then, she dissolves into giggles when she tells us that next she will be 5, then 6, then 7, then 8, and 9, and 10.  We are ever mindful that the years go by too quickly and we want to enjoy every second!

Ever since Emma started K3 at NCCS this year, we have loved the fact that she learns a new Bible verse each month.  Emma loves to learn things and memorizes stuff really quickly!  Right now she has just about memorized the entire National Anthem…she loves to sing it very loudly!  Here are the Bible verse she has learned so far this year…
August: “love one another” John 13:34
September: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14
October: “Be kind to one another.” Ephesians 4:32

I love that Emma’s teachers and others at NCCS are partnering with her Daddy and me to teach Emma to treasure God’s Word and to memorize it.  She comes home singing songs about her Bible verses and loves to “look them up” in her Bible.

We went to several cheerleader competitions this month to support our middle and upper school teams at NCCS.  Emma loves those girls and really looks up to them…also to Mrs. Titus and Mrs. Timms their coaches.  The girls are always so sweet to Emma and act like they are so impressed with her cheer and stunt efforts “Watch me…watch me.”    I’m grateful for the awesome young ladies that Emma looks up to!

Clint went out of town for a week for work and Emma and I really enjoyed our girl time.  We did a lot of shopping, a lot of hanging out at home, and a lot of hanging out with our friends.  We had a blast together…and had even more fun when Daddy got home!  Emma and Clint did a great job celebrating my birthday on October 16th.  They even surprised me and made me a cake!  They banished me upstairs for several hours and did a lot of clanging around in the kitchen…but it was all worth it when I saw the awesome cake.  Emma was so excited about it that when Clint was writing “Happy Birthday Mommy” on the cake…Emma wanted her name on their too, so we ended up with a cake that said, “Happy Birthday Mommy Emma”.  I loved it!

Two weeks after Clint’s trip, I headed out of town for several days for a conference.  As always, Clint and Emma did great…and probably didn’t miss me a bit!  We had a great time catching up on FaceTime and Clint is always great to send pictures of Emma. I arrived home just in time for Emma’s first Grandparent’s Day at NCCS.  Clint’s parents came down and we had a lot of fun!  Emma sang a cute song in the program and then hosted Granna and Papa in her classroom before they checked her out for lunch and an early afternoon at home.

The three of us headed up to Chattanooga the last weekend in October for Crystal and Matt’s wedding.  Crystal was one of my favorite students and we have really enjoyed watching her and Matt fall in love.  We are so happy for them and Emma really loved her first wedding!  We went shopping on the way home and made a really fun day out of it. That Sunday evening, Aunt Katie had a short layover in the ATL airport, so we surprised Emma and went down to eat dinner with Katie.  We were so glad to have a few minutes with her…what a treat!

We closed out the month by taking Emma with us to early vote.  She thought it was awesome because a lot of people gave her their “I Voted” stickers.  What a deal!  At the doctor, she has to get a shot to get a sticker…this is much easier!  Then, for Halloween, Emma dressed up to hand out candy and had a great time catching up with all of our neighbors.  October was a busy month just like all the others…but we loved every second of it with our sweet daughter.

Emma still continues to ask lots and lots of questions (interrogation style), but she is also very thoughtful and caring of others.  She remembers to pray for people who are sick or who need something.  She knows more people at North Cobb Christian School than I do…and that’s a lot of people!  Everywhere we go, Emma loves to make people laugh and she has a great time.  She loves to sing songs and she is a good listener.  She is a blast and we love her dearly.  We are so grateful that God chose us to be Emma’s parents!
