I have really enjoyed listening to Andy Stanley’s Leadership Podcast recently. There is a ton of great information for people regardless the capacity in which you lead. I was running several nights ago and listened to the podcast on Systems and came away with some great nuggets. I appreciate Andy’s willingness to share some of his best lessons with the rest of us! The following are his thoughts…
-Your system should allow you to hire and involve the best person for the job.
-great people = great things
-Your system should provide you with the flexibility to get the right people to the table (the decision-making table)
-Your system should allow you to make complex decisions in the context of a small group of people. You cannot effectively communicate complicated information to a large group of people.
-Your systems should ensure that only one person answers to “they”. Lots of great thoughts here about answering to a board, group of elders, etc.
