Until Eli Comes Home

We have been in the process of adopting our son for the past two years.  I’ve blogged about it here, here, and here.  We are excited to know that the day is drawing near that we will be able to bring our son home!  International adoption takes a long time and we still don’t know when we will bring him home.  Our family is resting in the peace that God knows the perfect time for our son to join our family.

We are so grateful for so many of our family and friends that are praying diligently for our family in this endeavor.  Clint decided last week that our family would cut out cokes and sweet tea in an effort to focus on praying for our son to come home.  I am so grateful for my husband and his spiritual leadership in our family!

My birthday was yesterday and one of my dearest friends gave me a water bottle with a note that said “until Eli comes home” to indicate that she is joining us in this endeavor to pray our son home.  What an awesome demonstration of the body of Christ and what it means to focus wholeheartedly on the things that God has placed before us to accomplish in His name.

Matthew 25:35-40 (ESV)

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
