App Review: Daily Bible

Screen Shot 2014-07-10 at 8.33.10 AMA few years ago, Clint and I had the privilege of getting to know Shane Kenny as we all served together at Freedom Church in Acworth.  Shane and I served together on the production team and he really has a knack for making things make sense.  He and his brother created SafeEyes, an incredible web filter geared towards integrity and purity, that was eventually bought out by McAfee.  In typical Shane style, he started thinking about the next big thing he could help with.  He realized that there are a lot of people that talk about reading the Bible who always get derailed because they don’t know where to start.  Research shows that it takes at least 21 days to form an effective habit.  With that info, it seems that the best thing to do is just to start reading the Bible while praying that God would help you develop a commitment to being intentional about reading your Bible.  With that came the development of Shane’s newest creation… The Daily Bible app.

This app is not created to be another app that serves as a Bible…it is simply geared towards helping you read the Bible more consistently.  The reading plan and everything is preset for you…you just open the app and start reading.  I also appreciate the encouraging emails that you receive about your progress with reading the Bible from the app.  If you fall behind a day or two, you receive an email encouraging you to pick it back up…no pressure, no condemnation, just encouragement to grow.

As someone that serves high school students on a regular basis, this app is a tool that I will definitely be sharing with my students as many of them really want to develop a daily Bible reading strategy and simply need somewhere to get started.  Check out the new Daily Bible app today and help us spread the word!
