This month, I thought I’d let Emma remember what stood out to her the most about September 2016 with our Strange family….she is sitting on the couch with me narrating these pictures and stories.
Emma and her friends celebrated her good friend Lauren’s birthday party at Sparkles. Emma’s favorite part about going to Sparkles is rollerskating. That weekend was Labor Day weekend and on Saturday afternoon, we went to the Celebrate Freedom concert at the fairgrounds in Marietta. Emma really enjoyed the Steven Curtis Chapman concert. This was her 3rd time to see him in concert.
Sunday of Labor Day weekend we went to Six Flags with our friends the Bitners. We went to the water park and we also rode a lot of rides. It was really packed that day. We saw Daddy’s best friend Vernon and his kids at the park. Eli had fun on the kids roller coaster and Emma rode The Georgia Cyclone with Daddy because she likes lots of adventure! On Labor Day, we played at home, did projects, dressed up in costumes, paddle boarded, and played at the park by the lake. We definitely maxed out Labor Day weekend!
The following weekend we had fun with our friend Claire on the way to the NCCS football game and then she came over and spent the night with us. Emma and Claire are sweet friends and right now their favorite thing to talk about is sharks and YouTube channels. That weekend Clint was out of town scuba diving at at rock quarry in North Georgia.
The third weekend in September was pretty action packed too! We spent Friday night at Covering the Bases supporting the special needs ballfields in Acworth, Saturday we went to the Braves game for our last time at Turner field and ended the day with dinner at Superica (a Strange family favorite), all leading up to Sunday evening when we loaded up to go to Passion City Church for the David Crowder album release of American Prodigal. What a fun weekend from start to finish! Another fun thing that weekend happened Saturday morning when Mommy and Emma walked up to Starbucks together to read and enjoy the beautiful weather. Treasured moments for sure!
We gathered with our school family to worship and celebrate the life of our dear friend John-Michael Ritchey that went to be with Jesus on September 19, 2015. The Strange family will never forget our special friend and the way he spent his life for the sake of the gospel. On Tuesday of that week, Emma had a cross country race at school and we had a great time cheering on our girl and all her friends. When we got home that night, she cooked eggs for herself for dinner…a cooking runner! She’s a versatile girl!
Eli continues to love everything related to football. The moment we get home from school, he changes into his football gear and begins practicing football all over the house. Sometimes he takes a break and decides to be Batman for a little while. On the other hand, Emma is really into guitars and singing these days. She did an evening of worship for our family a few weeks ago and did a great job! Such a special time!
We spent some time at the pool, eating out, cheering for our Eagles, and just hanging out with friends. The last week of September, Emma and I headed to Memphis for a few days to hang out with my sister and her sweet family. We visited some of our favorite restaurants and caught up with several friends. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back soon!
September was lots of fun…lots of action packed into 30 days…and we have posted some pictures below.
