Strange Family Adventures | June 2022

June 1 TOP GUN MAVERICK | So good!

I never saw the first one, but Top Gun Maverick was INCREDIBLE! I just love a good story!

June 3 LIVE SENT | I love the sendoff for the campers at the end of each week of @woodlandscamp. They gather in front of the chapel and all recite Micah 6:8 together. Then they have a donut with ice cream on it (the legendary hole in one) and @bigjonestes gives them a fun charge as they depart…to much laughter as he jumps or slides into the lake. Thank you Lord for the gift of Woodlands Camp in the life of our kids! So glad to have our favorite camper home after an awesome week!

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you

But to do justly,

To love mercy,

And to walk humbly with your God?

June 4 TRI THE PARKS | What a blast! We helped setup yesterday @lakelanierolympicpark for today’s triathlon with the best of the best @tritheparks. The 4am wake-up call is totally worth it for the fun with friends, beautiful sunrise, and all the excitement of cheering on people who have trained hard and are accomplishing big goals…some for the first time! Clint, Emma, Eli, and I had a great time as usual working hard and laughing a lot with dear friends. The post race lunch is always a blast and the car naps can’t be beat! Thanks Tri the Parks! See y’all in July!

June 8 FOUNDATION | The soundbites and the newsfeed would have you believe that this world is spinning out of control. Honestly, that started in Genesis 3…we should expect that things would get pretty out of hand as we pursue “what’s best for me” and “what feels good today.”

However, there is a sure foundation in the midst of the craziness and His name is Jesus Christ. I love this passage entitled “Comfort for God’s People” in Isaiah 40. It keeps my heart and mind focused on the fact that God is in control. All of this heartache and sorrow is leading somewhere much sweeter than we could ever dare to dream.

The glory of the Lord shall be revealed. God is faithful. He is working.

Always fun to run across markings in my Bible reminding me of things I’ve learned about the Lord from friends. @blake.goss taught from this passage 6 1/2 years ago in chapel @NCCSEagles. Will you join me in praying for Blake and his family today? They have become dear friends of the Strange family over the last several years and we love the way they pursue the heart of Christ and love others well!

June 9 LORD HAVE YOUR WAY | Hanging out this evening waiting for Emma to finish up @NCCSEagles Volleyball workouts. Turned out to be a sweet time to prayer walk the Upper School student parking lot.

It’s overwhelming to consider all the exciting things and the hard things the Lord has in store for over 400 students + 50 faculty and staff in the coming school year and beyond. The battle for the hearts and minds of our kids will only continue to grow in conflict with our culture.

Every interaction is an opportunity to point to Jesus as the source of all TRUTH and our anchor of HOPE. Will you join us in praying that God would do what only He can do?

Colossians 1:17

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

June 15 YEAR 17 | Emma snapped this pic as we left headed to lunch today and to officially kick off my summer break. I’ll be back in the office the week of July 11. Until then, I’ll be hanging with my favorite three Stranges at the beach, heading to the lake with my whole extended family, and enjoying some downtime at home. I’m a firm believer in margin and believe we can only be at our best when we realize God is in control and He is the one who has done the only work that matters. That means that summer break is a gift from God and a gift for us to honor Him by resting.

It has been an incredible first 17 years @NCCSEagles. I love our students, faculty, staff, and families. The Lord has done remarkable things in these years, but I firmly believe the best is yet to come!

June 18 HABITS | How many more years do you have with your kids in your home? What are the habits of your household that you hope your kids will incorporate in their own homes one day? Our kids won’t stumble into loving Jesus and knowing that they are loved by Him and their parents. Gospel focused parenting is intentional and it should be fun! After all, we should be pointing our kids to a more abundant life than they ever could imagine!

This book is an excellent read…great both in theory and practical resources. Grateful for the work that @justinwhitmelearley put into this book! What a joy to be on this wildly sanctifying adventure of parenting with @clintstrange32!

June 19 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY | We are so grateful for @clintstrange32 and the way he loves and leads our family so well! Whatever the adventure, Clint is up for it. He is always interested in whatever our kids are interested in and loves spending time with Emma and Eli.

We are almost always on vacation for Father’s Day, so we will spend the day by the pool and Clint will go SCUBA diving. He will come back tired from diving, but the kids will never know as he jumps right into whatever basketball, volleyball, etc. game they are playing. Our kids have an understanding and appreciation of our Heavenly Father because of the way Clint points them to Jesus. He loves and leads us well and it’s a joy to celebrate and honor him today. Happy Father’s Day babe!

June 19 BROTHERS | None of these guys grew up with brothers. Thanks to marriage, God has made them all brothers. I know my brother was thankful to trade in two sisters for @clintstrange32 and @jdgraffam! 😂 They are the most awesome husbands, fathers, uncles, leaders, and men. I’m grateful for each of them and the role they play in our family. They lead us well and keep us all laughing with their shenanigans. I can’t wait for us all to be together again next week to make more memories! Well done fellas!

June 24 IMAGO DEI | Rejoicing in the news that Roe v Wade has finally been overturned. Christians, now more than ever it will be evident what our theology of Imago Dei really is. May we be known for caring for families in need in a way that honors the Creator of all life.

Psalm 139:13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

June 24 JAMAICA 2022 | Grateful for a week away with my three favorite Strange people. We rested well, ate too much, enjoyed the sunshine, read a lot, laughed even more, and remembered what a gift our summer Sabbatical is to our family. Clint and Emma went SCUBA diving. Eli and I kayaked and he did the SCUBA intro course in the pool. I read 11 books. We swam in the pool, we walked on the beach, we saw several sunsets, and even saw the Jamaican Olympic bobsled at the airport! We went to sleep early some days and stayed up late (like after 8:30 even!) other days. Some days we were up early and others the teenager got to breakfast right before they started serving lunch…just as she should on vacation!

Jamaica 🇯🇲 is a beautiful place and we never take for granted the privilege to travel like we do. Clint and I are grateful our kids love exploring other countries just as much as we do! What a week. Thank you Lord! Soli de Gloria! #7000days
