Eternal Investment

One reason we must give now is that if we delay, our hearts may change, and we may not follow through with giving.  If you procrastinate, the same heart that’s prompting you to give today may later persuade you not to.  Why?  Because when you postpone giving, your heart’s vested interests increase on earth and decrease in heaven.  Additionally, you might spend the resources you had set aside for the Lord’s work on earthly treasures and not have the financial means to give to the Lord when the need is greatest.

part of the discussion in Randy Alcorn’s devotional book The Treasure Principle

1 Peter 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you
