Reggie McNeal in his book, Practicing Greatness, got my attention with the following quote:

“The need to be good at everything is idolatrous. Besides, not getting all the talent is one more way God builds into us our need for community.”

  • So then community is defined as a group of people needing others to be better at something than they are in order to carry their dead weight, each, in turn, carrying and being carried. Your singular strength, then, becomes your plural weakness…interesting.
