My husband is a HUGE Dave Ramsey fan.  We have been to Dave’s Total Money Makeover Live and Clint went to an EntreLeadership Live Event a few weeks ago.  In reading and listening to Dave’s podcasts, Clint heard that Dave has a list of books he requires all of his employees to read within the first 90 days of working for his company.  One of the books on the list is The Go-Getter by Peter Kyne.  The book is available for free on Kindle, so we both picked it up last night.  The Go-Getter is a quick read as a fable about what it takes to truly be a “go-getter”.  The whole thing took about 30 minutes to read, but it packs a powerful punch for leaders who desire to get the very best out of their people.

Here are a few things that I highlighted while reading…

  • Why are we maintaining untested material in this shop anyhow?
  • This is a young man’s world, Skinner, and don’t you ever forget it.  The go-getters of this world are under thirty years of age.
  • An organization is what its commanding officer is–neither better nor worse.
  • You told em what to do, but you did not insult my intelligence by telling me how to do it.
