Freedom 2.0: Week Two

Another great morning at Freedom Church!  Clint and I were looking forward to a great morning.  It was the first Sunday in a while that we have sat together in worship.  We invited some friends to come and visit and they loved it.  I put on Twitter this morning how much I loved Freedom because it is so easy to invite people to join us in this revolution to reach Acworth so that people far from God can experience life in Christ!

Pastor JR’s message continued our series on the core values of Freedom Church.  This week’s focus was on partnership.  We don’t have members and volunteers at Freedom.  We have partners.  Those are people who have experienced God for themselves and are willing to do whatever it takes to reach others for His glory.  The text this morning was John 2:1-11 which is fairly familiar as the story of Jesus turning water into wine.  Below the text I have posted some notes I wrote down this morning.

Text: John 2:1-11

1 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

4 “Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.”

5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.

7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so,
9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside

10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

11 This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

Takeaways:

  • The servants knew the magnitude of the miracle.
  • What will it take for you to move from being an observer to being a participant?
  • Partnership is the difference between being “for” something and being “with” something.
  • Jesus Christ alone is the one who qualifies you to play a role in His story for His people.
You should make plans now to join us at Freedom Church next week.  We meet at Barber Middle School in Acworth at 9:45 and 11:15am each Sunday.  On March 7, we will begin meeting at North Cobb High School.  We are making this move to free up more space so that even more people can come to Christ, grow in their faith, and partner with what He is doing in Acworth.  What’s stopping you from jumping in to what God is doing?
