STRANGE FAMILY ADVENTURES | FEBRUARY 2023

February 4

PROVISION | Today’s reading in Exodus points to the fact that God can be trusted to meet our every need. The people of Israel had finally been set free from captivity in Egypt…they were starving from their travels…and God rained down bread from heaven. What are you praying for or struggling through today? God sees you. When you seek Him with your whole heart, He will direct your eyes and your steps to His perfect provision.

VOLLEYBALL | God has given me a love of cheering other people on…I love that and dedicate many evenings and weekends to that…but there is no one I love cheering on more than these two! This afternoon took us to @cobbgalleria for the Beast of the Southeast Volleyball Tournament. Clint, Eli, my Mom and I cheered on the @575volleyballlakepoint Sharks. An added bonus is that some of our older @nccseagles volleyball players came to cheer on their younger friends. I’m always proud of our big kids at school, but today is yet another reason why I love our students so dearly! This has been a fun volleyball season of learning and growing. Many more tournaments to go…but a great reminder of all we have to be so thankful for! #7000days

THE LORD IS MY KEEPER | So grateful for an awesome message on The Gospel and Anxiety from my friend Janelle Rupp in chapel @nccseagles today. She reminded us that the Lord is our Keeper. The more we know of Christ and His character, the less we will be consumed with our thoughts and feelings. God is good. He is true. He can be trusted. He will hold you fast. He is my KEEPER.

THE ONE | Happy Valentine’s to my man Clint Strange . Clint is the best man I have ever known and the most clear picture of God’s grace in my life. The way he loves and leads me points straight to Jesus. He is easy to celebrate! Clint, thank you for choosing each day to love me so well! I ❤️ you!

4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant

5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;

6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,

10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-13

SLOGGING + NOTICING | This is the part of the reading through the Bible that can feel like slogging through the mud sometimes. The latter part of Exodus and the middle part of Leviticus have so many details about the construction of the temple, the priests garments, and the ark of the covenant. Just as you get your head above water from all those details, Leviticus talks about all the different types of sin offerings that were required…I always get confused about what to do if the hoof is separated or not…and then onto leprosy and cleansing rituals. I’m grateful for the way the @thedailygraceco readings remind us to look for the character of God in each passage.

Here are a few thoughts…

+ What a joy and overwhelming thought that God sees every detail…and He cares about them.

+ God deals gently with us. In the midst of us continuing to go back and wallow in our sin…God provided a sacrifice to pay the price for our sins.

+ God has stopped at nothing to pursue my heart…and yours as well.

+ These details are even more fascinating when you consider them in the context of the time and place they occurred. These aren’t just cute Bible stories, this is history and the ultimate story of God pursuing His people.

“For I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” Leviticus‬ ‭11‬:‭45‬

GODLY PARENTING | So grateful for the opportunity to join a large group of @NCCSEagles Middle and Upper School Parents this evening for a conversation about Godly parenting. Matt Petty, Senior Pastor of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, pointed us to the truth of Deuteronomy 6 and the fact that “we are the primary disciples of our kids.” He also shared some Godly parenting hacks that are super helpful! I’m also thankful for the chance to learn from the Smith, Pruitt, and Rupp families about some things that they have felt the Lord calling them to do as they have raised 14 children among the 3 families…all at NCCS!

Thank you @parkersmith314 for your vision for this evening of equipping parents. Excited for more of these conversations in the future! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily

MY SWEET BOY | 11 stitches later and he is back in action! Eli was climbing up our basketball goal tonight to adjust the height when he slipped and slid down cutting his leg pretty badly. I can’t imagine why climbing with Crocs on a slippery metal pole didn’t turn out well 🤪🤪. He’s such a trooper and said he’d be fine with a bandaid. Our nurse friends suggested stitches…so off we went to the @wellstarhealth Urgent Care in Acworth.

The Nurse Practitioner that took care of Eli was the older son of a family I served in Student Ministry many years ago and he did a wonderful job taking care of Eli. The nurses were all cheering him on through the numbing shots, stitches, and the cherry on top…the tetanus shot. Can’t say enough about the great care we got. From the time we walked in until we headed home was less than 2 hours…on a Saturday evening. Another reason #WeLoveAcworth!

LET’S GO HAWKS | Ever since the @NCCSEagles Academy Singers scheduled to sing the National Anthem for this game and our Varsity Boys Basketball Coach invited Eli to help them rebound at halftime, Eli has had this date scheduled on his calendar. This afternoon was the highlight of his Winter Break! He even chose to forgo a few days at Disney with @clintstrange32 and Emma in favor of staying in town with me so we could be at this game. And it went down to the buzzer with @traeyoung hitting a big time jump shot at the buzzer to defeat the @brooklynnets in front of a rowdy Sunday afternoon Hawks crowd. I love these precious moments with our sweet boy. He’s just a blast to hang out with. Grateful for these days! #7000days

VOLLEYBALL | While Eli and I were having a blast on Winter Break in Acworth, @clintstrange32 and Emma headed south to Orlando for the second half of the week. The two of them made some fun memories with two days at Disney and a full weekend of Volleyball with Emma’s 575 Team. The team improved each game and finished first place in the Emerald Division.

It’s been such a blessing to watch Emma having so much fun learning about a new sport. Our heart’s desire is for our kids to honor the Lord by using their gifts and talents for the Lord and to be a great teammate. This weekend was another small step in that direction. Go Sharks! #7000days #GreenShoes #15
