THE HEART OF GOD

I’ve heard this verse misused many times and it’s so easy to do. This verse doesn’t mean that God will give you whatever you want. Praise the Lord because my “wanter” is all kinds of messed up in most cases. This passage invites me to “delight myself in the Lord”, which means to abide in Him and so align my heart with His that I will find myself wanting the best things that He wants…not the wrong things that my sinful heart can so easily drift towards.

The rest of this chapter goes on to explain how to delight yourself in the Lord…

  • commit your way to the Lord
  • be still before the Lord
  • refrain from anger
  • turn away from evil
  • wait for the Lord and keep His way
  • mark the blameless and behold the upright

God is faithful. He is working.
