Every once in a while, the Lord gracious reminds me that my life is SO EASY. The light and momentary troubles (2 Corinthians 4:17) that I experience barely give me a glimpse of what Christ-followers all over the world..and throughout history…have experienced. A Company of Heroes was a helpful and encouraging read in so many ways. I became a Christ follower in June of 1994 and went on my first mission trip a few weeks later. 31 years later I have had the privilege of traveling the world serving locally, domestically, and internationally on mission with a variety of people. We have seen the Lord do incredible things for His glory and the good of His people.
This book took us on a trip around the world to meet a variety of missionaries to learn more about where they are seeing God at work. I have the privilege of working with high school students in my Christian school and as the missions director at my church as we seek to impact the world for Christ. This book encouraged me, challenged me, and stretched me. It reminded me that all God has called us to do is to simply share with people what He has done in our lives. That can happen in our day to day context or in a trip to the other side of the world. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wonders if their life could make a difference for the sake of the gospel.
