I’ll start by saying that I have read every book that has been written under the Union label and each of them have challenged me to grow in my understanding and application of Scripture…which is the highest praise I can offer a book! I really enjoyed What Fuels the Mission of the Church? by Daniel Hames and Michael Reeves.

This book helped me see how we tend to overcomplicate things as it relates to understanding and sharing the gospel. Sharing the gospel isn’t a separate activity that we do sometimes. For a true follower of Christ, sharing the gospel should be what our main focus is at all times. This is a matter of keeping it simple…don’t work so hard to try to impress people, walk closely with Jesus and ask Him to give you opportunities to share.

I highlighted a few things while reading and have posted those notes below…

  • What is the mysterious cause of our complicated relationship with mission? Location 115
  • Christians who don’t enjoy God can’t and won’t wholeheartedly commend him to others. Location 156
  • Our delight in God is the main fuel for mission. Location 486
  • The culmination of mission is glory. Habakkuk prophesied that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (2:14) Location 547
