I’ve decided that it is time for me to take a look at Nashville from a different perspective.  April 30 is a milestone sort of day for me.  I am going to participate in the Country Music Half Marathon.  I’m pretty psyched about it.  I will go ahead and state up front that I have no plans to run the whole thing.  I have had bad arthritis in my hips since high school and it will be quite the feat to accomplish this half marathon by fast walking and running the downhills.  There aren’t many downhills!

I have been doing some light training for a couple of weeks now and am planning to ramp things up starting next week.  Because I recognize my physical limitations, I am very excited about the idea of keeping this goal in front of me as I train for the next 3 months.  As a leader, I think it is really important to set goals that are difficult to achieve.  I ask a lot of the folks on my team at school.  I want to make sure that I am consistently looking for areas in my own life that cause me to dig a little deeper.

I’m excited about doing this particular race because my brother will be participating also.  He is definitely doing the half and considering doing the whole marathon.  It will be a blast to share this memory with him.  I’ll post updates over the next several weeks.  Thanks in advance for your prayers…this will be interesting!
