Today’s Reading: Daniel 6:14-15 (English Standard Version)
14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was much distressed and set his mind to deliver Daniel. And he labored till the sun went down to rescue him.15 Then these men came by agreement to the king and said to the king, “Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians that no injunction or ordinance that the king establishes can be changed.”
Takeaways:
- I am intentionally taking this portion of Daniel 6 in smaller sections because it is so amazing to watch God’s plan intentionally unfold one step after another at just the right time for His glory.
- Notice here that the king “set his mind” to get Daniel out of this jam. The king knew that Daniel worshipped the only true God. I think he also realized that the other guys were slime balls.
- When is the last time that I agonized over something or someone so deeply that the sun went down to rescue me from my contemplation?
- Just as it seemed that the king was willing to intervene for Daniel, the slime balls showed back up just to “clarify” the rule.
- Let’s continue to watch God’s perfect plan unfold in the following verses. God is good!
