Movie Review: Fireproof

Clint and I ended up using this weekend as a chance to just hang out together and take care of some stuff before Baby Emma arrives.  We did a bunch of stuff around the house Saturday morning and then headed out for the afternoon.  After running some errands, we headed to AMC Theater for the 4:05 showing of Fireproof.  We had been hearing great things about this film and knew it was put out by the same guys that did Facing the Giants.

Wow!  The movie was great.  We were very impressed.  I heard this morning that Fireproof is the #8 rated movie right now which is practically unheard of for a Christian movie.  At the end of the movie, everyone started clapping.  Clint and I looked around and saw several groups that looked to be small groups from churches.  It was great to see so many folks who wanted to know how to Fireproof their marriage.  When this one comes out on DVD, I know we will purchase several copies.  I think a copy of the movie would make a great addition to a wedding gift!

After the movie, Clint and I went to Mellow Mushroom to eat dinner and just enjoy hanging out.  I am so thankful that my husband is also my very best friend.  There is honestly no one else in the world I enjoy hanging out with more than him.  God has definitely blessed us!

Here is the story of the movie:

Lt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter’s adage: Never leave your partner behind. Inside burning buildings, it’s his natural instinct. In the cooling embers of his marriage, it’s another story.

After 7 years of marriage, Caleb and Catherine Holt have drifted so far apart that they are ready to move on without each other. Yet as they prepare to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb’s dad asks his son to try an experiment: The Love Dare.

While hoping The Love Dare has nothing to do with his parents’ newfound faith, Caleb commits to the challenge. But can he attempt to love his wife while avoiding God’s love for him? Will he be able to demonstrate love over and over again to a person that’s no longer receptive to his love? Or is this just another marriage destined to go up in smoke?

FIREPROOF is the third feature film from Sherwood Pictures and the Kendrick Brothers—the creators of FACING THE GIANTS. FIREPROOF will have audiences of all ages laughing and crying as they are inspired by this story of perseverance and commitment.

Plan now to use this powerful film as an outreach tool to strengthen marriages.
