First week back

This morning on the way in I was listening to the radio and the dj’s were talking about how glad everyone must be to be cruising into the weekend.  Everyone had gotten into the rhythm of rest over the past couple of weeks with Christmas and New Year’s.  I think we can all identify with what a stretch this week has been to get up early and head to the office everyday.  I love my job and love the folks I work with…but I especially enjoyed them over the holidays when we all slept in and then met up for dinner after a lazy day around the house!

I shared on this blog several days ago that I felt like God was really calling me to read through the Bible this year.  Clint and I have been reading the ESV version in order to get a little different perspective on some familiar passages.  The first nine days have gone really well and as always, it is amazing to recognize how timely God is in revealing himself.  Each day I write in my journal and pull out the couple of verses that really speak to me, or scream at me, that day.  I try to make sure and go back and look at those throughout the day to be reminded that God is teaching me through those.

This is a very busy season at our school right now.  We are in the midst of renrollment and registering students for next year.  We are making staffing decisions and trying to do our very best to evaluate what areas we really need to ramp up headed into the 09-10 school year.  We are also preparing to unveil our Master Site Plan and start digging into a capital campaign.

It is easy to get overwhelmed with everything that we are doing.  However, I honestly believe that God is in this and that He will equip us to get everything done in such a way that will be for the good of our people and for His glory.

Here are the two verses I picked out of today’s readings…

Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
