Strange Family Adventures : July 2021

July 1 STEWARDSHIP | Thank you Tia at @suntrust in Acworth for all of your help getting our kiddos squared away with their accounts this afternoon. She was patient and helpful and explained everything to the kids to make sure they are making the most of their accounts. They’ve had accounts for a while, but we needed to update some things. Stewardship and financial literacy starts early to set kids up for wise choices later. #7000days

July 2 SUMMER IN THE SUBURBS | What a special night @cedarcrestchurch! We had a blast hanging out with a huge group of people from all over our community. Powerful time of worship and the Word, baptisms, free food, and fireworks! Excited to see what God has in store for our #SummerInTheSuburbs as we live On Mission taking the gospel to the community.

July 3 WHAT A DAY | We drove up today to spend the day with @clintstrange32’s aunt, uncle, cousins, and all of their kids. We played for hours at the pool, ate AMAZING food, told stories and caught up, laughed, ate more food, swam some more, and just enjoyed each other’s company. Rhino rides, tree swings, and working together to jump off the diving board added to the fun! Family is such a gift and we are so blessed to have such an awesome one! #StrangeSummer2021

July 4 FOURTH OF JULY | Started the day walking with @clintstrange32 and then fishing and swimming at Lake Acworth with Eli. Out to lunch and shopping with Emma for @woodlandscamp. Naps, games at home, and dinner with dear friends. I promise the whole fam was together, but somehow we ended up with only a bunch of pictures of Eli. He had the best time today! He’s been going out of his way to try and wear something patriotic every day this week. He keeps us laughing! Grateful he was willing to ride the wagon back from the lake tonight walking home after the fireworks! Next year I’m sure he will be too big for that. @clintstrange32 has already claimed getting to ride while Eli pulls the wagon! So fun to bump into so many friends at the Lake tonight. #WeLoveAcworth 🇺🇸 💥 🍔 🎣

July 5 WOODLANDS | We dropped our sweet girl off for a week @woodlandscamp this afternoon. Woodlands is something our family looks forward to ALL YEAR! When we picked Eli up a few weeks ago from camp, we asked him “what was the best part?” He replied “All of it!”

Praying for our friend @bigjonestes as he speaks this week and points these junior high campers to Jesus. We love his heart for the Lord and his desire to lead a camp that honors God in every way. We are praying and believing that God has huge things in store for this week. #Unforgettable #7000days

July 6 YEAR 17 | Today was the start of Year 17 for me @NCCSEagles (13 as Upper School Principal). I’m more excited than ever about what God has in store for our school and His plans for us individually and collectively this year. Also, “Good, Good Father” was playing in the speakers as I walked in the front door. Yes, He is!

Fun day of getting organized, meetings with creative solutions, lunch with new and returning awesome teammates, and getting to the bottom of the vacation emails. New teachers report 3 weeks from tomorrow. What a blast to get to be a part of what God is doing!

This evening I have the privilege of wrapping up the day helping to coach our NCCS Middle School softball team. Loads of fun with a great group of Eagles!

1 Peter 3:15 …but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,

July 10 TRI THE PARKS | Another awesome weekend with our @TriTheParks family and favorite athletes! The race this week had us up at Richard B. Russell State Park in sunny Elberton, GA. We had an awesome time in the Granite City! We missed @clintstrange32 and Emma this weekend since she was coming home from camp, but Eli and I had a blast cheering on athletes and serving with our triathlon friends. I always love the way our kid staff runs in the last athlete so that they feel extra special. What a day! Now for a nap…that 3:30am alarm was no joke! #TriTheParks #Triathlon #MakingMemories #7000days

July 13 ACWORTH BRIDGE | I moved to Acworth almost 21 years ago. I lived across the street from Acworth UMC right where Hwy 92 curves and now we live in Downtown Acworth right down the road. 20 years ago, we used to dream of the day that the roads and bridge would be expanded. Today was that day! The Strange crew went through Dairy Queen to celebrate with some ice cream as we made our maiden voyage over the lake using the new bridge and roads. Well done City of Acworth and @cw_matthews! What a partnership and an awesome day for our city! #WeLoveAcworth

July 17 GIRLS + GUYS WEEKEND | This weekend Emma and I are in Destin with my Mom, sister, and niece hanging out on the beach and enjoying some sunshine and great food while our guys are in Huntsville and Birmingham exploring the Space Center, hotel pools, and baseball. Grateful for these precious times! 😎 #7000days

July 19 FAMILY DATE NIGHT | @braves ended up rained out, but that didn’t stop our fun. Dinner at @supericatexmex with precious friends, strolling the @batteryatl, and lots of great chitchat waiting around. A+ night…and we will catch the Braves another time soon! #7000days

July 21 WHAT A WEDNESDAY! | I started the day with a new family interview @NCCSEagles…one of my favorite opportunities as principal. Then we met with our Upper School student government leaders to set up classrooms, pray over faculty, staff, and students, and do some work preparing for the first day of school, chapels, retreat, and Homecoming. Then we met up with a bunch of awesome young men and women who will be new students at NCCS this year. We took them to @truistpark to cheer on the @braves in a day game against the @padres. All in all, a pretty solid day in the office! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily

July 22 RETREAT | Loads of fun hanging out today @ocoeeridgecamp praying, planning, and dreaming about our @NCCSEagles Upper School Fall Retreat taking place in just a few weeks. Students, have you filled out the forms Mr. Smith sent out? What have you chosen for free time? So many great options! Excited to have @coleragsdale and @richsethhardy leading us in worship. Grateful for the leadership of @parkersmith314! Believing God has some incredible things in store for this time away! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily

July 26 COUSINS | This weekend was precious in so many ways. So good to have my mom, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephews in town. These are the moments I never even could have thought to dream about when we were kids and the moments I’ll treasure forever. Laughter, noise, food, stuff everywhere, loud, crazy, and then some…and it was PERFECT! So grateful for these days! #cousins

July 28 1 Peter 1:1-12

Our theme verse this year @NCCSEagles is 1 Peter 3:15, one of my favorites! Excited to read back through 1&2 Peter being reminded of the HOPE that we have in Christ.

Gods great mercy towards me is what gives me a living hope. It’s not anything I can earn for myself. So grateful today for the grace and mercy of God. Asking the Lord to help me be faithful to point to Him in all things. Can’t wait to see what He has in store for this year!

God is faithful. He is working.

July 28 NCCS EAGLES | Today is a special day as we welcome our @NCCSEagles New Faculty and Staff to campus. We’ve had a great time getting to know one another. These are exciting days! Thanks for praying for these men and women that will serve in a variety of roles. It’s so evident that God brought them here with a purpose and plan for this season. #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily

July 28 UPPER SCHOOL FAMILY | It’s been awhile since we last had 75 people over for dinner…and it was so sweet to do that tonight with some of the people we love most on this earth. Such a blast to have our @NCCSEagles Upper School faculty and staff families over tonight to cookout, hangout, catch up, and dream together about the year ahead. God has blessed us richly with the team He has assembled. We missed our peeps that couldn’t make it…but that’s all the more reason to do it again soon. I’m so grateful for this team…I learn so much from them everyday. God is faithful and we are excited about what He has in store for this year! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily #Cookout #Spikeball #KanJam #Cornhole #BakerBurgersAndDogs

July 30 SENIOR RAFTING | Today the @NCCSEagles Class of 2022 hit the Ocoee River for a day of rafting, laughing, swimming, falling out of boats, lunch, leadership training, swimming, praying, playing, swimming, and selecting the ONE WORD that each of our seniors would like to be known for this year. Titus 1-2 talks about what it looks like to lead well. I’m grateful for the opportunity we had to lean into that today…and to have a blast together while doing it. This day is always one of my favorites of the whole year. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for these amazing Seniors!! Excuse me while I grab the Advil 😂😂

Everyone always wants to know if I fell in. I didn’t fall in. Today there was a group of about 15 kids swimming my way with menacing looks on their faces, so I did a cannonball off the side of my raft as a self-preservation tactic. Lots of laughter was had by all! Always a great time with our friends @oarafting! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily 📷 @coachjim1024

July 31 HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLINT | Today we celebrate @clintstrange32, the best of the best! He leads and loves us so well and we are so grateful. We purchased a package at the @NCCSEagles Benefit dinner a few months back for a behind the scenes tour of the @georgiaaquarium and the @cfbhall. It was the PERFECT way to spend the day celebrating our main man. We learned lots of cool stuff and had fun playing and trying a bunch of new stuff. Clint is so good to look out for everyone else, it was awesome to be able to honor him today. Happy Birthday Babe! 🎉🎂
