Strange Family Adventures : September 2021

September 2 BRIGHT SPOT | I had a big moment this morning before school. I noticed my iPhone flashlight was on before anyone had to tell me! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Iā€™ll admit I was feeling a bit prideful about my awesome IPhone flashlight self-regulation. Not to worryā€¦as I walked through the gym at lunch, 2-3 tables of ā€œcool kidsā€ had to flag me down to tell me my flashlight was on šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ #ImAnOldLadyNow #DangTechnology

September 3 EMMA | Iā€™m so grateful for my precious girl. She is thoughtful and kind, tender and tough, helpful and funny, and a joy to me in a million different ways. She is such a blessing to our family in the way she always looks for ways to serve and encourage. I was nowhere near as mature and wise at 12 as she is. I learn something new from her every day. What a gift it is that the Lord has entrusted her to our family. We count it a blessing to pray for her and cheer her on! God has HUGE plans for Emma. #7000days

September 6 LABOR DAY | We had the best weekend in South Florida with our dear friends The Corbetts. They have been a HUGE blessing to our family for many years and it was such a joy to pick right up where we left off the last time we were together. The food was amazing, we had a blast at the beach, worship @gofamilychurch was a treat, but the fellowship and conversation was our favorite. In Christ, we donā€™t have goodbyesā€¦we just say ā€œsee you later.ā€ This weekend was a gift! We fly home with full hearts reminded of the gift of friendship.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

September 7 MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS | I canā€™t say enough about how blessed we are to have the ability for Emma to play sports @NCCSEagles and through the city of @acworthparksandrec. Softball all afternoon for school (unfortunately ended up being weathered out) and then volleyball all evening for Acworth. Both seasons are fairly short and both represent strong interests Emma has. Sheā€™s willing to put in the work, we are willing to cheer her on! @clintstrange32, Eli, and I love cheering on Emma. In turn, we love cheering Eli on in soccerā€¦but that has another week before their games start. In the meantime, Clint and I have developed new hobbies in our old ageā€¦we love driving around town from one thing to the next. #TheseAreTheDays #7000days

September 12  MOM | It has been such a treat to have my Mom in town this weekend for a visit. She got to come to the @nccseagles football game, cheered on Emmaā€™s Acworth volleyball team, enjoyed a private piano concert from Eli, and celebrated her upcoming birthday with dinner at @1885grillacworth and a golf cart tour all around Acworth. We also got to work in my flowerbeds, enjoyed @clintstrange32ā€™s homemade biscuits, and had a great morning @cedarcrestchurch before she had to head home. So grateful to have a Mom who is willing to drive down from Memphis even for a quick visit because any time together is precious for all of us! #7000days

September 18 STRANGE SATURDAYS | Soccer goals with Eli. Volleyball spikes with Emma. So grateful for opportunities to meet new friends through @northwestfamilyy soccer and @acworthparksandrec volleyball. @clintstrange32 and I love cheering our kids on in the sports they have chosen. Today was pretty perfect. Started the day on the soccer field. Moved to the gym for volleyball. Picked up some precious friends in the golf cart for lunch in downtown Acworth and laughed our way all the way back to their house in the rain. Came home to a lazy afternoon of watching Bama squeak it out over Florida, Memphis top Mississippi State, and Georgia Tech had a shot at the end against Clemson. Packing for our upcoming mission trip and just hanging at home. Ohā€¦just realized we never made dinner. I had popcorn. Wonder what everyone else did? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ #7000days

September 19 6 YEARS | Iā€™m so proud of my friend @jmritchey and the legacy of grace and joy that he has left for all of us. 6 years ago today he stepped into the presence of Jesus and many of us have never been the same. Those of us who were privileged to count JM as a friend and colleague experienced Jesus in a way that Iā€™m not sure that I could adequately explain. I met JM when he was in middle school @NCCSEagles and had the remarkable privilege of being a part of hiring him at NCCS after he graduated from @libertyuniversity. To this day, the sound of his name and the mention of a quality JM prank brings a smile to the face of all who knew him. He pursued people for the sake of Christ in a way that Iā€™ve not seen before. We are all better because of John-Michael. His wake is a big one and every bit of it is about JESUS. #WellDone #JMR

Here are some thoughts I shared the week of his passing: https://meganstrange.com/?p=9452.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- – Ephesians 2:4-5 @ North Cobb Christian School

September 19 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC | We are so grateful that @cedarcrestchurch is a sending church. Our family is headed out next Saturday with some friends to serve in the Dominican Republic with our new friends @timeministries. We canā€™t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us all.

Will you please pray for us as we head out 9/25-10/2? Our hope and prayer is that we will be an encouragement to all those that we encounter and that we will shine the light of Christ in whatever capacity they have us serving. #SendMe #GO

September 23 HAPPY BIRTHDAY | Today is my Momā€™s birthday! Iā€™m so grateful for her. Raising three kids as a single mom is no easy taskā€¦especially when it was the three of us! She sacrificed her time, wants, and dreams for so many years so that we could have all that we needed. Somehow she made it to the ballgames, concerts, programs, and everything else. Itā€™s a blast to watch her doing the same for her grandkids now! I treasure our times together and look forward to many more adventures in the future! Happy Birthday Mom! I love you!

September 23 WHAT A BLAST! We have had the craziest season with rain, COVID, and everything else. These ladies have worked hard and today we beat Walker on the road 10-7 in extra innings. A true team win! Awesome way to head into the break! Great job ladies!

September 24 LINCH | I started my week @nsckennesaw with some @nccseagles teammates enjoying Lunch with a Leader led by @mikelinch looking at the life of Joshua. Yesterday we had the privilege of having @caseylinch speak in our Upper School chapel helping us consider ā€œWhat are the Warning Lights on the Dashboard of your Life?ā€ from James 2:14-22. Iā€™m grateful for the impact that Mike and Casey have both in our community and in my own leadership development. Investing in other people and pointing them to Jesus is clearly a Linch family value. #Grateful
