Strange Family Adventures | February 2022

February 2 ALUMNI ROAD TRIP | Today our @NCCSEagles Alumni Roadtrip took us from NCCS > Birmingham > Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide!) > Auburn > NCCS

What a day! What a joy to catch up with our awesome Eagles to hear how college and life is going for them. I’m so proud of these young men and women and am so excited about how the Lord is working in and through each of them. Today filled my cup and well…three giant meals were pretty filling too! So many great hugs! Loved the 15 hours with my awesome teammates in the #StrangeWagon as we toured the entire state of Alabama.

3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

February 5  LIVIN’ THE DREAM | Ever since @jamesbitner24 was a little guy, he has always loved baseball. We’ve had the joy of knowing James almost 20 years and have watched him grow up playing at Adams Park, @acworthbaseball, several travel teams, in tournaments in Tennessee and Panama City, @NCCSEagles (‘17), and now he is wrapping up his final season of college baseball @milescollege. It was such a treat to be able to see James in action as his team played at Shorter University today. His parents are some of our closest friends and we have loved experiencing this journey with them! Our whole family is so proud of James and we have loved cheering him on all these years! #GoJames #HardWorkPaysOff #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily 📷 @coachjim1024

February 5 CITY CHAMPS | It’s been a fun season and an exciting week of playoffs. The 10U Acworth Spartans are officially the City Champs! Eli had a great time this season. He had fun, learned a lot, and enjoyed meeting some fun new teammates. And what’s not to love about an 8am Saturday morning Championship game? 🤪 Fun Fact: My high school mascot is the Spartan, so #GoSpartans comes easy. Way to go Spartans! #CityChamps #SeasonOfTheSleeve #7000days

February 6 SUNSHINE | @clintstrange32 made homemade biscuits for breakfast…the best! Awesome morning worshipping with our church family @cedarcrestchurch. Leftovers for lunch at home. Clint and Emma worked on a school project. Eli played basketball in the driveway. I enjoyed my coveted Sunday afternoon nap. Followed that up with a long walk through Downtown Acworth. Spring is coming. This is the best part of winter…when spring is on the horizon. Give me all the sunshine! #Seasons

February 12 PLAY LIKE WALKER | We have a really fun rivalry. Eagles v. Eagles events are always back and forth. When we walk through hard things, we have each other’s backs. Grateful for the fellowship of Christian education. #EaglesFlyTogether

February 16 GRATEFUL | In the midst of our grief and sorrow, I’m so grateful that God saw fit to schedule Spiritual Emphasis Week @nccseagles this week! Hearts were tender and everyone is contemplating eternity. I can’t say enough about what a great job @danielpritchie did pointing us to Jesus. His story is a powerful one…and Jesus is the hero of Daniel’s story. It was really fun to have @richsethhardy and @kaitlynmullins leading worship with us as well…awesome friends with a heart for Jesus and our school! I’m so proud of @parkersmith314 and @connorhughesyl for leading us so well. We are blessed with the best @nccsstudentlife team around! God is faithful! #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily

February 19 THE SMITH FAMILY | Congratulations to @parkersmith314 and @caitliz_ on their wedding day! I’ll defer to the happy couple to post pics of the beautiful wedding. We had a blast hanging with sweet friends, eating lots of great food, reconnecting with people we haven’t seen in years, eating some more, and dancing in celebration of what God has done. As Parker shared “God really does write the best stories!” Congratulations Parker and Caitlin! We are proud of you and so excited about what God has in store for y’all!

And my handsome @clintstrange32 joined us..he just happened to take all the pics of our crew. I assure you he was incredibly handsome as always! 🥰

February 22 WINTER BREAK | We had a great visit up to the DC area to see my brother and his family. Our visits are always way too short, but we definitely packed a lot in! It’s such a treat to be able to have Emma and Eli together with their sweet cousins who are growing up way too fast! Lots of great food, ice skating, walks through the park, trampoline jumping, coffee stops, ball throwing in the living room, monuments and memorials that matter, did I mention all the great food?, rest, laughter, Uncle Clint finding erasers in ears, and loads of fun! Grateful for these days as we head back to the ATL. Winter break sure is a gift! #7000days

February 26 DINNER WITH MARTY | @clintstrange32’s Dad Marty passed away this past June after a short battle with very aggressive cancer. Shortly before Marty passed away, he retired from a long career with @wholefoods. When we were packing up his house, we found some Whole Foods gift cards he was given on his retirement. Every once in a while, our family likes to go to Whole Foods and walk up and down all the aisles checking things out and finding new things to try. Sometimes it’s seafood, or fun items from the bakery, and other times it’s cool fruit we’ve never tried.

Tonight @clintstrange32 chose steak and shrimp and we cooked it on the outdoor griddle and then had a “fancy dinner” in the dining room. We think Marty would have gotten a lot of joy out of the way we are using the gift cards and honoring him by having special family time. Time spent together is always well invested. #7000days
