STRANGE FAMILY ADVENTURES | MARCH 2024

March 2

MERCIES + COMFORT | Thinking of several precious friends who are walking through hard things right now. Grateful for the Father of mercies and God of all comfort. He sees you.

God is faithful. He is working.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP | Had a blast the last few days hanging out at the Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Symposium hosted by Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. Learned a ton as I do anytime I get together with a bunch of educators who are passionate about kids growing in Christ. So many far reaching possibilities incorporating the strategies of the entrepreneurial mindset.

Most of all…I enjoyed learning from and with two of our most awesome @nccseagles Upper School leaders and alums Ryan Moore (‘06) and Robert Gnann (‘15). These guys are so sharp and the Lord is using them in a powerful way!

THE MUSIC MAN | Congratulations to the entire @NCCSEagles Arts Department for a wonderful job with this year’s spring musical. I’m so proud of our students and directors. They have worked hard and the show was fantastic! Well done @nccsarts!

TEAMMATES | I snapped these in our @NCCSEagles Upper School Faculty/Staff Meeting the other day. Coach Jones was leading us in a fun game where we learned some pretty interesting things about each other. He put us into groups of 4 and then gave us just a few minutes to find the most unique thing that the group had in common. Lots of laughter ensued!

We have lots of firstborns on our team, several related to someone named Ann, a group of ladies who love fancy coffee and four-wheelin’ (not at the same time), a group that all wears corrective lenses, a group that all speak Spanish, a group that all had the same health insurance 😂, and many more unique tidbits of hilarity.

More than anything, this exercise reminded me of how much I have to be grateful for. Many of us have been running this race together for several years and some have just joined the team. Those moments when we are all together point to the goodness and grace of our Lord as we serve together in this season @nccseagles. Asking the Lord to move mightily in each of us as He uses us to invest in the hearts and minds of students and one another to impact the world for Christ.

SUNDAY DATE | This weekend @clintstrange32 and Emma have been away for volleyball, so I’ve gotten to hang out with Eli…just the two of us. Clint and I both really love these times with the kids individually. It’s always a blast to hear what they are thinking and wondering about.

Eli and I hit up @whataburger for lunch yesterday…always a favorite for my Burger Boy. We ran some errands and cleaned the house before the musical at school. Such a fun evening!

This morning we had a great time in worship @nsckennesaw and lunch together at @moessouthwestgrill. When we got home, I did some yardwork and then Eli insisted we go for a walk so he could ride his bike around on this beautiful day.

We went all over downtown Acworth checking out the signs of spring and then stopped in @scoopsacworth for a sweet treat. Back home now for basketball in the driveway and relaxing for the afternoon.

CELEBRATE | Yesterday evening was a special one! Always a blast to cheer on my @NCCSEagles student-athletes and coaches. We celebrated senior night for tennis, lacrosse, and golf. So many things to celebrate about what God has done and is doing in and through the lives of these kids. Incredible grateful for the partnership of awesome families!

Ended the evening with a long walk through downtown Acworth with a friend and caught a really spectacular sunset.

God is faithful. He is working.

SOPHOMORE BLESSING | Special thanks to the families of the @NCCSEAGLES Class of 2026 for providing a wonderful breakfast and fun treats for our Upper School faculty and staff this morning. We are so blessed to have amazing parent partnership at NCCS!

PARTY LIKE GATSBY | I love the great lengths that our @NCCSEagles teachers go to in order to make learning fun! Mrs. Burton’s juniors are finishing up their unit on The Great Gatsby and they had a rockin’ Gatsby party today. Official pics coming soon…but everyone looked so fancy and they had a blast celebrating what they’ve been learning. #LearningShouldBeFun #GoEagles #WeAreNCCS #NCCSFamily #40YearsOfNCCS #40YearsOfFamily

CUBA 🇨🇺 | And we’re off! The Lord has graciously knit together the faces and stories of this team to be used for His glory this week in Cuba. Will you join us in praying that we’d be open-handed to whatever God has in store for us?

We are asking specifically that the Lord would…

+ Turn our hearts towards His

+ Help us build relationships quickly and easily

+ Turn the hearts of the Cuban people towards His

+ Help us be an encouragement and partner in ministry to the Cuban pastors and other Christians we will be serving and serving with this week

There are 18 Upper School teams headed out from @nccseagles and we are praying that we’d all be radically changed by the power of the gospel in these days. Thank you for praying for us and with us!

enviado en vivo | What a day! So grateful to be in this beautiful country. We encountered several delays in our journey, but I’m so proud of this team for rolling with it and making the most of the time. We are having a blast so far! After dinner tonight, we engaged the question we will discuss all week “Where did you see God at work today?” Already so many responses! Ready to call it a day here. We will be up early for breakfast, church, and spending the day with the people we will be serving this week. To God Be The Glory! Live Sent!

ST24 CUBA 🇨🇺 | Our group is off to an INCREDIBLE start! We’ve already seen lots of gospel opportunities and the team is doing well. In order to be sensitive to the well-being of our ministry partners here and the people who are taking such great care of us, the Cuba team will not be posting until AFTER we return home. Thanks for praying that the Lord move mightily in this place where many know the Lord and are so faithful to share the gospel. We pray we can be an encouragement to them this week and help them share the love of Christ. To God be the glory! Live Sent! enviado en vivo 🇨🇺

JOSHUA 24:15 | And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

I’ll never get over what a blessing it is to travel deep into places in the world where people are truly living this out. Having my precious girl by my side makes it even more of a joy. #LiveSent #7000days

ST24 CUBA 🇨🇺 | The Lord is gracious and kind and He is SO GOOD. This past week in Cuba has been an incredible blessing on so many fronts. I’m so grateful to be a part of a school that sets a week aside each year for sharing the gospel very intentionally around the world. Our Cuba team was an absolute blast to serve with!

God did some incredible things in our hearts and allowed us to see that the Holy Spirit is on the move in the communities we served in. In order to guard the safety and security of those we served and served with, we won’t offer a lot of specifics.

Another AMAZING piece of this week was the blessing of serving alongside Emma on her first @nccseagles Spring Term. Thank you Lord for that gift!

FLAG FOOTBALL | Our little guy and his buddies are playing in a Flag Football league this spring. I missed the first game last night because of flying in from Spring Term, but @clintstrange32 sent these fun videos. At breakfast this morning, E and I were catching up and he told me all the trick plays and what he loves about each of them. He was also talking about all of his teammates and what they are good at and why he loves playing on the team with them. This is why we play sports. It develops character and reminds us that you need to play well with others to be successful in life. The coolest compliment you could get as an athlete is that you are “coachable” and a “great teammate.” Looking forward to some fun Friday nights this spring!

Eli is doing his best Jalen Milroe impersonation with some receivers making the magic happen in the end zone. Let’s go! #7000days

March 30

YO MAMA | Each weekend we get an email summary of whatever our kids searched for on the school internet this week. Normally for our kids…it’s the College Football AP rankings, song lyrics, “what’s the big country on top of America?”, what is the largest margin of victory ever in a college basketball game, etc…normal kid stuff and I usually chuckle.

Today’s takes the cake. What a proud parenting moment. Eli doesn’t even know we get this email report, but you better believe that @clintstrange32 and I are going to start prodding to see what the cool Yo Mama jokes are amongst the kids here in 2024. 😂😂😂

March 30

Indeed… I will sing of the goodness of God. So grateful to have worshipped with our brothers and sisters in Christ in Cuba 🇨🇺 this past week.
