If you know the Strange family, then you know that we are fanatics about keeping things organized.  I just finished reading Clutter-Free Home Living by Eugenia Orr because I found it for free on Kindle.  We regularly go through our house and gather up a bunch of stuff to give to Goodwill, share with others, or throw out.  Clint and I decided long ago that we never wanted to be a slave to our stuff and we want to make sure Emma grows up that way too.  The prominence of the show Hoarders has helped with this way of thinking as well!

I have never read a book on organization before, but I found a couple of good things to consider in this book.

  • The key to leading a clutter-free life is the ability to get rid of excess.
  • Taking photographs of sentimental objects is a great way to preserve memories long after you give the objects away.
  • Once the clutter is gone, you will need to set a schedule for maintenance. Establish daily, weekly, and monthly tasklists to ensure that all rooms are addressed.
