Christmas Reading: Day 12

Today’s Readings: Revelation 2:1-5, 1 John 3:1-3 (English Standard Version)

Revelation 2:1-5

1 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

1 John 3:1-3

1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

Takeaways:

  • We have hope.  We can’t grow weary, God has incredible things in store for those who remain faithful!
  • Do you remember how you felt when you first accepted Christ?  Is it still that exciting?  If it’s not, what are you doing differently now than you did then?
  • It is unfathomable how much God loves us.  The fact that He would desire to call us His own is beyond what our brains can comprehend.
  • We shall be like Him.
