Emma: January 2012

After a very relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break, we jumped right in to 2012 with a lot of fun activities.  January 2 was my first day back to school and Clint’s first day back to work…but Emma’s school was closed that day.  Clint was such a trooper and let Emma stay home with him to be his “helper”.  I think Emma enjoyed “working” with Daddy.  Each weekend this month has been consumed with basketball, swimming, wrestling, and other NCCS activities.  She really enjoyed seeing the kids jump off the “ironing board” at the swim meet.  Emma had a big meeting at school as she had her official interview to apply for admission to the K3 program for next year.  Great news…she got in!  She was so excited about her interview and we had a great time.  Emma can’t wait to actually be a student at NCCS, she loves being at school and around some of her most special friends.

January was cold and rainy for the most part, so we spent a lot of time in the house reading books, playing Legos, and just hanging out.  Emma loves “reading” her books to us and is getting more and more creative about making up the stories.  She is also getting funnier as each day goes by.  She was sitting at the table the other night and was spelling her name for us.  She likes to say that her name is “M”.  If you ask her why…it’s because people call her “Em”.  The other night I asked her if people still call her “Em.”  She said that her teacher calls her, “Emma, please sit down on the carpet”.  Then she busted out laughing.  Too cute!

Emma is getting more and more independent as the days unfold.  I am so grateful that she loves to be a little helper.  She always likes to say the prayer at mealtimes and before bed.  Clint and I pray that her heart will always be eager for the things of God.  We continue to be amazed at God’s great love for us expressed through our precious daughter.
